I want to create my own characters with Strange Eons and the Talisman plugins. However, I don't know how I can change an image file so that the background is clear/invisible so that you can see the character card background behind the character picture as with the example picture. Any ideas?

Depends upon which imaging software you are using but in general, add a transparency layer and save as something that supports it such as PNG

Gimp is free, available on Windoze, OSX & Linux and will do the job. I am sure there are others too.

Redsimon... can you show us the individual character and background image you are trying to use? Maybe that will help us understand you problem a little better and point you to a quicker solution. But it does sound like a file format problem where your image doesn't have transparent areas to let the background show through.

There are indeed no transaprent areas. Therefore I want to know how I create those. Is it enough if I just erase the background somewhow? I just want to use an ordinary picture I found on the web.

You will just have to persevere with the editing software (like GIMP) if you want transparency, but if you can live with the background, the card maker is SE does have a clip area with an overlay so you can use larger pics without them looking odd. Just increase the size of the image until it fills the left side of the card.

Simple but interesting character, nice. But the no armour thing... is that just Armour... or any type of Armour card. (I know, the terminology itself isn't helping any.)

Oh, and if I may ask... why Forest for starting space, considering the image? I might have been inclined to give her the Crags with the ability to chose not to roll when landing there. And if she does start in the Forest, should she have a choice there?

Redsimon.... I agree with Jon about the background. In fact, except for making a standee, and if the background isn't too far off the mark for the character, a tasty background can be kind of nice. It adds a bit more flavor for a character card.

I have a problem with the English version of the character creator from the English Talisman extension for Strange Eons:

As you can see, it is not only the preview in the character creator, but also the outcome when I export the file. Strangely there is no problem when I use the German extension to create characters.

I already tried to deinstall and reinstall the extension, but it didn't work.

All the other creators from the English Talisman extension seem okay.

I also installed the plugin "ui-grid.selibrary" (file name) from the Strage Eons site as the Talisman extensions demanded that file.

The SE version I use is "Stable Release 2.00.8".

Hmm.. it is possible you are using a copy of the plugin that I messed up internally!

I linked to another plugin for some of the files in error. If you download the latest version it should be okay though. Please let me know how you get on.

Ahh, the problem was that the <hr> tag made these big boxes appear instead of the correct symbol. I downloaded it again, deinstalled the verson I had installed (plus deleting the file in the plugin folder, definitely necessary) and installed the new version. Everything is fine now.

When did you change the file? Must have been only days ago.

Yes, it was only last week I think. Chris pointed it out to me as I hadn't noticed as I have all of the plugins installed. The problem was that I had overwritten my English character plugin and rebuilt it from the Polish one, but missed a tag.

Glad it is working okay now though!

As an aside, I'll be releasing an update to the plugin after the Frostmarch is released to add Ending cards to the mix...

On a side note, after reading this post I wanted to get on board with the home brews via strange eons. I went to Talisman Island to downloaded the plug ins, but I can't get them to download at all. I've downloaded stuff from other servers since my repeated tests so it doesn't seem to be on my end with the download errors. I live in the states, if that matters, but it just won't download to my computer. I've installed strange eons, so I don't know what the problem is?

Sorry, one last thing, I've gotten the 4e card backs to download, but nothing else on the site (at least the english versions).
