Admirals New Caprica Ability

By GrooveAttack, in Battlestar Galactica

We have some thoughts about the ability of the Admiral to Jump the Fleet immidiatly after its arrival. If the current Admiral or Ellen Tigh is an unrevealed Cylon Player, the game ends immidiatly with a victory for the cylons once one of them starts her turn or gets an XO due to the fact that all landed civilian ships are simply destroyed. Which happened in the 1st game we played with Pegasus Addon.

We thought of some delay ... each player had to have her turn ... or just using the jump prep marker again to Auto Jump and from then the Action is possible.

Are there any good thoughts out there? Or did I misinterpret the rule of the Admirals New Caprica Action Ability

I don't remember if I saw it here or on Board Game Geek, but someone very wise said something along the lines of "If you let Ellen Tigh live that long, then you get exactly what you deserve." Haha, that has been the best advice on this topic that I've seen yet... it was pretty risky for the cylon player to stay around that long, they just put ALL of their eggs into on very fragile basket. They had to have been playing very human for no one to suspect them and then if they did get executed at the last minute, they would have had no time to get to work on a back up plan. That strategy, as hilarious as it is, could have gone terribly awry for the cylon player.

Our group determined that as well - if the Admiral is a Cylon and has not been discovered before Galactica returns to New Caprica, it's an auto-win for the Cylons.

I've played twice with the new board. In both games, the Admiral turned out to be a Cylon. In both games, we were able to uncover that fact before the real damage could be done. One of the things I dislike about the expansion is that you have to find out if the Admiral is on your side before the end of the game. We were able to use the President's Quorom deck to figure it out each time, but we could just as easily not have figured it out and lost without a chance. When it comes down to it, you have to trust your Admiral if you ever go to New Caprica. If there's a doubt, you need to get the Admiralcy to someone you do trust.

That seems just about right to me.

Like it was said thats putting all your eggs in one basket.

Also that seems really appropriate to be very suspision about of the admiral! Because as Adam once said if Hes a Cylon then they are all screwed!

All i'm saying is it fits the show.

There are ways in the game to check loyalty.

For instance, if this bothers you so much, have someone be Baltar every game and check the Admiral after the Sleeper phase every time.

My thoughts exactly. Almost makes me hope I *do* get to play the Admiral and be a cylon if we reach New Caprica.
