Who is winning Tekken pre-releases?

By MarcoPulleaux, in UFS General Discussion

There hasn't been much discussion about the pre-release.

What character is winning of the 5?
What cards are integral? (my money's on Financial Distress and Lion Slayer)
What cards are frequently pulled?

I'm assuming, in a format where resource restrictions are ignored (assuming you do it that way), King is the best, seeing as how he has access to Paul's, Kazuya's, and his own Throws. Nina's probably up there.

Paul is more better.

and why is that?

Stunning the piss out of staging areas, then pounding away with 5+ damage base attacks + self pump.

4 difficulty 7 damage...mmmmmmm

Mishima family bloodlines as a char won ours I think lol. Like 7 people played it as a char.

MY prerelease was won by a block 3 promo Zhao Daiyu....

Pre-release was won by Boxing is Life as a character.

Lion Slayer = MVP.

We had two and nina won it the second day the first day it was just a foundation

but having 7 man behind the masks in your 35 card deck means you never take damage after you get to desperation EVER!

We played with promos allowed and Heihachi destroyed all comers, nearly everyone played him, was 2 kings, and a christie also. Someone pulled paul but nearly no stun attacks so he didnt get used.

The Universal Fighter won mine, but if my playing mattered (it didn't, since I was running it and just playing people who had the bye), i would've won it (judging from my record against everyone playing) with Paul. I had the choice to play as Nina too but I went with Paul simply because +damage with Throws in sealed usually = win.

Universal Fighter or Boxing is Life. Pick your symbols or play as a foundation with amazing symbol spread.

Boxing is Life murders pre-releases, you get access to every card in the set bar Nina's.

Sealed format is best played the "open" style. That way deck construction actually has to be thought out and if you pull char only sutff, it's not useless.

Ignore Symbols entirely(do not chain, does not have to match)

Char only cards can be played by anyone.

Char Only effects can be played by anyone.

Cards that refer to a specific char(ex- if you are king) you only count as that char if you actually are them.

You must match a symbol to use symbol specific abilities.

If you dont pull a char, you can choose to be a blank 6/30 with 1 symbol or a blank 7/20 with 1 symbol.

and if the promos arent busted, prerelease promos you get are legal for the event.

6 packs, decks must be at least 40 cards. Remove only 5 when you cycle.

Thats a MANS sealed event, and actually when they actually hold major sealed events, the typical format

^That's the format my group plays by, with the only exceptions being the prerelease promos and symbol specific abilities.

Best way to play a release event, or to just get someone new to get interested in playing.

The one over here in the dry heat state was won by a Paul I believe, didn't stay too long due to buses being annoying. I played as Paul and got his super and the Best Friends foundation, brutal punch is brutal.

as far as i know, nothing has won the tekken pre-release here

That is how we play all of our pre-releases, but I let people use symbols specific abilites as well. I was hoping someone would pull the Christie loop, but no one got it for the Pre-Release.

Mishima Family Bloodline is the best character in the pre-release. Why? because then you can run boxing is life in your deck gran_risa.gif

I won ours with Kazuya. He was a nice addition to the deck but it was mostly the other cards in the deck, he was just a 6/28 with a +1+1 dmg pump.

I think ima play by Jeremys rules next time. we just dont do the Character Only abilites, 7/20, or the Promos.

I won ours with Paul, ha. Pulled his Gi and the entire Reverse DDT string - Cobra Twist/Clutch/Reverse DDT.

Then just stun the living crap out of their staging area with the 6+ stun attacks I got, or the Kazuya foundation that GIVES stun. Profit.

I won with Hunt for Jin as a character.

A player at my shop won using Paul.. final round was him and I (I used Nina). There weren't anything to counter the Stuns in a sealed Tekken 6 format so Stuns are very strong, nonetheless, the built in committal and damage pump is quite powerful.

So...

Paul's been winning
Universal Fighter wins

...kinda sad =/

Guess the support matters most.

...Financial Troubles? =D

Financial troubles + the entertainer = Dumb in pre-release either you stop your opponent from drawing(having no blocks) or you let them draw and take many other attacks to the face after being stunned to death

Err... I just used Unknown Son + blocking, and patiently had my opponents deck out from over drawing off the financial troubles.
