Creature cards are up too...

By Elberon, in Battlelore

Odd that they didn't put up the modified Spider card either....or is that maybe a rumor?!?

Just was hoping that with heroes and the dragons, that maybe we might see a new army expansion (or even one on dwarfs/goblins) before we see more creatures. Since really the bulk of Battlelore is the "grunt" units..not the creatures.

I wonder what the level means on the cards. All of these creatures are level one and the dragons have level 1 through 3. I assume it is number of tokens needed to play the figure but why would the Hydra be level 1 and the Ice Dragon is level 2? The Hydra seems to be as good or better.

I'm a bit disappointed that the Creatures pack is going to contain 2 models I already have (and the actual creature abilities don't look too different either).

The Dragons pack is looking more interesting for me at the moment, but I guess I'll wait for the reviews.

I agree..and this will be the case for most people who have the elemental and giant. Probably why they put the Hydra in it. So basically for the people who do have them, they are basically buying the cards and the hydra figure. :(

While I do not have the Giant and the Elemental figure, I will not be spending $40 ?? for three miniatures. I was looking forward to obtaining those sculpts and the hydra, but I guess I'll just have to continue to use proxies. $15-$20 MSRP seems more reasonable.

I think its a great way for 'new' players to get hold of the giant and elemental miniatures without having to rely on people selling the promotional figures, whilst at the same time giving us lucky few a new flavour for our existing minis (the lack of these miniatures was a regular hot topic back on DOW site before concerns of lack of support took over), and from the photos I've seen that Hydra looks really quite cool.

I use new as back on the DOW site there were people who started a few months after launch who couldn't get hold of the miniatures.

I picked up an Earth Elemental at GenCon when BL first came out, just for demoing it, but didn't pick up the game for another year, and at that time the only place I could find the Hill Giant was on eBay, for about $15--and I know that a lot of people who were trying to get it at that time payed a lot more. So while this pack doesn't have as much for the people who got in on the ground level with BL, there are a lot of people out there who will get a lot out of it. The re-flavoring of the units works, because at least it will feel like we're getting a bit more out of it than just the hydra.

And the spider thing came from the instructions, so unless they went back and completely altered what they were sending to the printers, it's still a go.

btw, Dragons is listed @ $35 in the online store, which makes me think most online distributors will have it $25-30. I would expect this to run a similar price--although since there's not much actual development in terms of the minis, it may be less.

This is how I feel as well. I would need there to be cards on how to play a different spider along with SOMETHING that "sets the hook" for me.

A lot of new scenarios using those creatures could be a part of it... I really hope so...

This is on the products page:

BattleLore: Creatures Expansion

Creatures from the darkest corners of the realm strike out against their opponents with horrible new attacks that can kill with a single blow. Keep your guard up when fighting with the beasts of BattleLore: Creatures.

Wood Giant
The Wood Giant is a variant Creature based on the promo-only Hill Giant figure with a new lair and new abilities. This Green Banner Creature attacks enemies from afar with a flurry of logs hurled from any forest on the battlefield.

Rock Elemental
Like the Wood Giant, the Rock Elemental is based on a figure (Earth Elemental) that was formerly only able to be obtained by special promotion. The Rock Elemental is a Red Banner Creature that is able to be summoned via a Magic Vortex to almost anywhere on the battlefield.

Hydra
The Hydra is a totally new Blue Banner Creature that gets more powerful when it is damaged. As its multiple heads take hits, they are removed and possibly replaced by even more heads. With an attack based on the number of heads the Creature currently has, the Hydra is a fearsome foe indeed.

BattleLore: Creatures Expansion includes;

3 Unique Creature Figures, Wood Giant, Hydra with 6 interchangeable head/neck pieces, Rock Elemental
3 Creature Banners
A Rules Booklet, including 4 new adventures
2 Landmark Tiles
7 Web Tokens
7 Poison Tokens
1 Conjure Token
7 Cards, 1 Tactics Card, 4 Creature Summary Cards, 2 Landmark Summary Cards

With the 7 Web Tokens, 7 Poison Tokens, and 4 Creature Summary Cards I think that there will be somthing to do with a spider.

Also find it "odd" that the Creature expansion has a release date of early 2010 whereas the Dragons are late 2009. You would think it be the other way around, since other than the Hydra mold, FFG should have the molds of the other creatures.
