Are two hawks in the same list competitive?

Try this one, I've had a lot of fun with it and it does win games. Not every game, but definitely effective.

Is one HWK in any list competitive?

In the X-Wing news archives, there's an article on Firespray strategies. One of the images in that article looks like one guy is flying 3 Firesprays against 4 HWKs. I wish I knew what that list consisted of. It seems like it be fun just for throwing a curveball to someone you play against on a regular basis.

Scum Hawks are pretty powerful. Paired with kavil, I've seen them take down BBBBZ in 20 minutes.

The problem with HWKs is that while they have potential to be good, you often have to load them up with upgrades to bring out that potential, making them too expensive in the process. So no, two HWKs in the same list is usually not a good idea.

Perhaps more importently is what you want to use the HWK's for. Without a function to pin them down into it's more difficult to plan on whether they would be competative.

Palob is a mega competative pilot that tends to be the go to HWK pilot due to the fact he forces oppoments to play their game differently. The other two are more condictional (The former makes a pilot skill 0, the latter increases Ion Damage). The issue is with their 1 attack dice they do need an upgrade, which makes them useless at range 3 and their turret largely dictates purpose.

Y-Wings are very simliar, so depends on whether you get mileage out of the pilots really.

How about this?

Spice Runner

Ion Cannon Turret

Outlaw Tech

Dead Man's Switch

The ion turrets and techs let you get in close when you're close to dying so the opponent risks blowing up his own ships if he tries to finish you off.

The hardest part about using two hwk's is working with its dial, I think its worst dial in the game, but I love usiing Jan Ors with 2 blue B's

I think that using 2 hwk's is going to be about learning to exploit their strengths, turret and crew slot, I think using an engine upgrade could help with the dial.

Not if you're playing Rebels...

Torkil Mux (19)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Greedo (1)

Palob Godalhi (20)

Kavil (24)

R4 Agromech (2)

Total: 100

Won a store championship, 2 HWKs and a Y-Wing

with the turrets (and paired with kavil, again) you dont have to fly hard. you keep it dialed to your ones, and circle the board, daring anyone to come into your range 2 death bubble.

that list can pop a b-wing per turn.

However, smart opponents familiar with the HWKs horrible dial will stay at range 3 and put a real hurt on them. It seems like EU is a necessary upgrade. But heck if I can find room for it without taking away red dice.

I hear a rumor that there is a three HWK list with some kind of escort that's gonna change the world though...

Out of curiosity, is this entered in List Juggler?

I only like 2 HWKs competitively in Scum builds, not Rebel.

Though, I don't mind Rebel Operative ICT + Roark ICT

This is just for a 21 pt ICT if you can't afford the 23pt Y ICT

It is: http://lists.starwarsclubhouse.com/get_tourney_details?tourney_id=339

(that was me)

It does have several weaknesses and strategies that make sense on paper but they are much harder in execution. Kavil and Palob put out a surprising amount of damage. In the finals I killed 1 y-wing a turn when we finally engaged. My matches against the triple interceptor list came down both times to if my 4 dice primary shot against Carnor hit or not (it missed round 2 but hit in the first championship round). I don't expect to see it winning worlds but I had a great time flying it

How are you finding Greedo on Torkil? And the Feedback Arrays on the HWKs?

I've been playing around with a 4 Ship list based around those two HWKs which looks like this:

100 points

Torkhil Mux (24)
HWK-290 (19), Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Palob Godalhi (36)
HWK-290 (20), Opportunist (4), Blaster Turret (4), Greedo (1), Moldy Crow (3), Shield Upgrade (4)

N’Dru Suhlak (19)
Z-95 Headhunter (17), Lone Wolf (2)

Laetin A’shera (21)
M3-A “Scyk” Interceptor (18), Stealth Device (3)

I've had some solid success with the above list, though I'm a bit torn on Greedo. I flew a modified version of this list over the weekend and I'm leaning toward swapping Laetin for Serissu with Wingman (or naked to drop a K4 on Palob). The defensive re-rolls really helped to keep the HWKs from taking too much damage.

Definitely. Let Palob and Torkil anywhere near each other and they'll fight for dominance over each other.

Palob is incredible, and his ability can be pretty difficult to deal with. About the only saving grace is his middling PS, meaning it's not overly difficult to stay in Range 3 of him. Get close and you risk getting popped by him and allies using Opportunist.

I could definitely see him and Torkil being a deadly duo together, as you can steal away any focuses/evades from a high PS ship, have Mux knock said ship to zero so it doesn't get any shots, then unload with all your Opportunist laden ships on it and it's now probably unmodifiable defense dice. A phantom unfortunate enough to land in range two of Palob while decloaked is likely in for a world of hurt.

The shame is, Dace Bonearm is the Scum HWK I really mark out for. And, unfortunately, that's getting a bit pricey. Still, look like I could squeeze him and Torkil into a list together, throw on some ICTs and a few more upgrades, and still have a manageable 40 points left to spend. Hmmm....

Comradebot, if you're interested in Dace and Torkil, I have a list that may interest you:

100 points

N’Dru Suhlak (19)
Z-95 Headhunter (17), Lone Wolf (2)

Torkhil Mux (24)
HWK-290 (19), Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Palob Godalhi (29)
HWK-290 (20), Opportunist (4), Blaster Turret (4), Greedo (1)

Dace Bonearm (28)
HWK-290 (23), Ion Cannon Turret (5)

I haven't flown it yet, since I'm short a HWK and a MW pack, though I've been itching to try it. I do think it might be a more one-off "fun" list, but with the amount of control offered by the double ICT and Torkil, I think it certainly has some competitive potential.

How are you finding Greedo on Torkil? And the Feedback Arrays on the HWKs?

Greedo is ok but not the most needed thing. I him on Torkil over Palob because I like k4 on Palob and I don't want to make Palob a bigger target by making him easier to crit.

Feedback Array is there specifically for the hard counters (Carnor Jax and Dark Curse). It saved me in the championship rounds against the triple interceptors but I usually don't use them otherwise.

During the tournament I was talking about dropping Kavil and replacing him with some z-95s but I may try your list out

A phantom unfortunate enough to land in range two of Palob while decloaked is likely in for a world of hurt.

Every time I've faced a phantom with the pair the phantom didn't survive to shoot.

Cut the 2 HWK stuff and just use 3 dace, palob, and torkil are a mean combo with the right upgrades.
