About tables.

So, I've been trying to find an inexpensive table that fits the 3' x 6' (36" x 72") recommendations for 300+ point games and am having a devil of a time finding one. I've mostly poked around on Amazon. In specific I need a foldaway table because my small apartment can't handle a table of that size full-time.

By inexpensive I mean $100 (US) or less.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I highly recommend you to get a 4x6 table. I have a 3x6, and there is absolutely no space for cards, extra tokens, dice Tower, etc.

I got t fold away tables from Walmart and spent less then 80.00For 2

I've been looking as well. It seems all the 72" folding tables I can find are only 28-30" wide. I'm thinking it will have to be two tables, and go for 48" x 72" overall for some extra room on the edges.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same.

Good point, though we generally don't mind having our cards on the play area, because we usually move out of our board edges fast enough that they're not in the way. But it's worth considering.

So I assume you're stacking them side by side for a total play area?

I totally agree with this.

I have two 3 x 4 ft pieces of MDF that I stick over a smaller table. Sprayed the play area black and painted in some dots for stars - it does the job and looks OK.

I found this for European players. A little pricey IMO for "high-tech" cardboard, but they have some irregulars for less. Still looking...

At the moment, I am using my board game table. Just a 7'x4' plywood sheet that's been sanded down on both sides. Edges are covered in masking tape.

Just place it on top of a dining table or cold out table and use placemats of a table cover as a buffer to not scratch the lower table.

BGG also has plenty of DIY instructions to build your own decent quality table. Parts probably run 150 to 200 for DIY, which is a lot cheaper than you'll find for a 6'x4' to buy anywhere else.

Edit: here is a photo of armada on my table.

I have three 2x4 bits of mdf which I stick on my dining table, but you just just as easily get a folding pasting table from a diy store. Should think the whole thing would set you back less than thirty quid.

4x8 plywood at homedepot is like $10 to $30, depending on thickness. And they cut it to size if you ask. Just sayin... can of black spray paint, maybe some trim pieces. I mean if you already have a table that just isnt big enough.

Yes I did put them side by side....works well and decent amount of room for cards drinks ect

I went for somthing a bit more complicated.

I bought three 600x1200x6mm and three 600x900x3mm pieces of MDF.

I painted the sides of it all black, and the top couple of centimeters of the 600x900.

I glued some felt to the top and short sides of the 600x900 and while that was drying I painted one end of my larger pieces red and the other blue. I then added some cloth tape, just to give it some protection against small bumbs and spills. I also took some copies of the little cards with the play information on them and glued this to the corners of each board.

Once all that was dried I glued the board felt side up to the other board and waited for it all to dry.

Varnished the coloured bits at the ends to protect the copies of teh cards and ....
