No more spoilers for set 11?

By Viewtiful_Joe, in UFS General Discussion

I'm surprised (and almost glad, mind) that there haven't been any more preview cards for Set 11. I only say this because the set's pre-release is only 2 - 3 weeks away, and only 3 cards have been shown off.

This will probably cause some controversy, but I think it's a good thing that nothings been spoiled. It means that the set is going to be a nice surprise when it comes out. Showing off the pictures without the text in the form of the forum avatars is quite a nice idea as well. We don't want to open our packs and already know what everything is inside, do we?

I think that if there are any spoilers, that it would be nice to confirm reprinted cards like the alleged Burning Knuckle (wouldn't be shocked if The Don's Right Hand Man was there either)... As oppposed to this being a thread about what you WANT to be reprinted, what cards, if any, do you think WILL be reprinted in this set? Bear in mind the characters that have been released previously that have pre-block 3 support: Alex, Balrog, Chun-Li, Bison, Guile, Dhalsim (Mystic? Yoga Mastery?), T. Hawk, R. Mika (Tendon Strength?), Gaira (Ceiling Slam Grabber, Wandering Monk), Nakoruru (Idyllic Kamui Kotan), Terry (Burning Knuckle, Buster Wolf), Geese, Billy (Challenged, The Don's Right Hand Man). Thoughts?

Y'know, you have a point -- it IS a bit more interesting when you have no idea what to look forward to, so all of the cards are almost complete suprises. Then again, if you play in an area with playtesters, they already know everything and their lack of excitement can rub off :

Reprint-wise, I've got my fingers crossed for Vanity even though Sankuro probably won't get another character for a while. TDRHM would be pretty cool, although its symbols are already pretty solid (lol it triple-matches Feline Spike)... quick rules interlude that's been asked before: Can I TDRHM after my Burning Knuckle does its burn thing?

Well if you remember set 10 didnt give too many either once ledezma left the spoilers seem to have vanished for the most part.

I've seen a double post, I rarely see triple posts, but a quadruple post.... OMG. My eyes!

I agree with Wafflecopter here - the lack of previews are a good thing. I mean, when cards were spoiled, I remember proxying them up (or at least I did with *Mai* and her support that got spoiled), and owned everyone until the set finally came out and people got their revenge by playing the cards against me.

And to answer your question about Burning Knuckle, for the sake of Legacy - Yes, you can use The Don's Right Hand Man on BK as the damage comes from your BK.

Here's hoping Thunderfoot gets re-printed, or even....

Neck Choke.

Dun-Dun-DUUUN!!!

(I'm actually serious about that one)

Sorry about that ricky this mourning the web site was going so slow i was trying to refresh it and it wont event let me edit or delete it got to love it lol .

Hmm... Does this mean the character roster for Set 11 hasn't been completely spoiled?

I can still hold out hope for Shizumaru then? If he's printed I'll flip. If he doesn't have Water I'll be less excited, but he sounds like a Water/Life type, which is what I'd want anyway.

But holy crap, Shizumaru... He's like 10x better than Setsuka because he doesn't just kill people with an umbrella sword, he kills them with a flying razor umbrella AND a sword. Plus he goes into possessed mode for his finishers. =D

i personally like spoilers, and quadruiple posts, but thats me.

Leave it to Scubadude to make a quadruiple post.

Just under a technical for what it's worth:

The old forms were PHP, where much of the code for utilizing the forums are executed by working in concert with the user who as accessing the forums, having that users computer help work to generate the content.

The current forms are generated in ASP or Active Server Pages. All of the work to generate the forums is done by the server itself. Which with everything the server is trying to do, I'm really not surprised that it's as slow as it is. Really, when you're using the forums at 2am, they tick along a descent click loading pages. There aren't that many people hitting the server all at once. Try hitting at noon, when everyone and their dog is asking for various aspects to be loaded... and yeah... it's going to chug.

Ya i talked to Steve about he basically said they need to use a new server to stop the lag so i guess we just have to wait it out .

actually if I remember correctly the entire set 10 was spoiled by users(who bought it at gencon before the release date), so there was really no need for them to spoil the set.

I didn't know anything about asp sites, but being a pure server-side load would explain why I don't see a lot of them. =|

Right but we didnt have spolers from FFG like we did for sets 8 and 9 was my point when they had card reviews and everything .

Yeah if you live in an area with playtesters and they have even TOLD you they were / are playtesters, they're violating some NDA I'm sure, and as such, should be flogged.

No one's said anything like "Hey man, all this stuff we did in playtesting is really cool!", I've just overheard people saying stuff like "We're meeting for playtesting on Thursday", etc. That must be a pretty brutal NDA lol.
