Anyone seen what the Tekken Pre-release Promo is?

By griffinman01, in UFS General Discussion

My store hasn't gotten our kit yet so I was wondering who has seen the promo. Kinda hoping they do a character since the chance of people getting stuck with the Universal Fighter in the pre-release is pretty high given how rare characters in packs are.

Paid to Protect

2/5 +3M Earth/Fire/Void

E Commit, reveal your hand: This attack gets -X damage (minimum 1). X equals the total number of keywords on cards in your hand

R Commit: Before the block step, return this attack's speed to it's printed speed.

anyone know what the boxtopper is then?

hilde can finally be stopped. this card is almost mandatory side deck material.

Not really... this game is becoming ThrowFS... all she has to do is put her effect on a throw, like 3/4 of the block 4 deck i've seen so far. Pushing 3-4 throws with dmg boost +10+15 turn 3 is common now...

That said, one of the more apparent things that block 4 is missing at the moment is a way to reduce throw damage to zero... I'm pretty sure we will see some of it in the next set, either by way of blocking for zero or throw hate in general.

Pop your one Rashotep foundation that kills a keyword when an attack is played, and then block the throw?

absolutely... now that we've seen anti-multiples, we need to have anti-throws. Not as an overpowered response like they often did in the past ( defender of the empire, for anti-discard, which also broke the game even against non-discard decks... ) but as a balanced means to defend against throws as they are a little overpowered right now.

then that hilde player will simply smile, let it go as is, and play another throw with the damage pump... or maybe you are not playing against really intelligent players?

From what I've heard, the Tekken set was designed long before early rotation was even discussed. Most of the cards talked about in here exist in the old standard but we haven't seen anything just yet on the new standard. Hopefully most of this will be addressed with the next set since it's being designed from the ground up with the new standard in mind.

Anyways, I can't wait to start cracking packs this weekend during the pre-releases and see what kind of stuff Tekken's packing.

The cards are revealed on coolstuff except for the toppers if that's what you're wondering about.

And Hilde doesn't exactly go nuts over damage pump that is exclusive to throws; i.e. she doesn't care about Undisputed Ruler the least bit.

Combo decks might have an issue with it, with the whole Combo keyword going away for the enhance phase lol

So, a little birdy said that along with paid to protect, stores are getting promo Bryan Fury, Heihachi and Steve Fox for the release event. No idea what they do though >_<

Heiachi is a 6/27

chaos earth fire

R (5+): After your attack deals 4 or more
damage, reveal the top card of your deck.
If the revealed card is an attack, add it to
your hand. If it is not an attack, discard the
revealed card.
E Discard 1 card: Your non-throw attack
gets +X damage. X equals the
difficulty of the discarded card.

Brian fury is 6/29

earth evil fire

E Commit 2 foundations: The damage
of this attack may not be reduced by
card effects.
E Destroy 1 foundation: Your attack
gets +4 damage. Only playable if your
attack has a printed damage
of 5 or greater.

Steve fox is 6/26

all chaos fire

E: If your punch attack deals damage,
your next punch attack this turn gets
+2 speed.
E Discard 1 momentum: If the discarded
card is a punch attack, this attack gets -X
damage. X equals the difficulty
of the discarded card.

FFG seems to be having a love affair with fire and death atm...like a really crazy love affair.

Looking at it logically:

With FFG reducing the set size releases down from 2 licenses to one license for these releases, wouldn't it be proper to believe that there was already a set designed and completed before the delay and is going to be the next release, therefore having it fall prey to the same pit traps as this set?

They said both sets were printed at the same time, so yeah set 14 was made before rotation was decided. Set 15 will be the first set made with rotation in mind I think.

OMG Brian Fury, wants!!! He's got me fave two symbols (Earth and Fire) and built-in awesome damage pump!

The promos are sex.

Also, the box topper has been spoiled as well!

Bloodline Rebellion
3/5 Foundation +3H
All / Earth / Order
Desperation: 1

F Destroy this foundation: Name a keyword. Reveal the top 5 cards of your deck and add 1 card with the named keyword to your hand. Discard all other cards revealed this way.

E Commit: Your Tekken 6 attack gets +1 speed and +3 damage.

T6P1 1/7

Art's not bad, either.

I don't remember the name of it and I know that it has All and Death I believe do remember the third symbol but I remember this much of it.

F destroy this foundation, choose a keyword: Reveal the top 5 cards of your deck. Any cards of the said keyword were revealed add those cards to your hand. Put the rest into the discard pile.

E (either discard a character card, or a simple commit) Your Tekken 6 attack gets +1 damage and +3 speed.

HA!!! I was close lol

...you did see the post just above yours with that exact card on it...right?

lol. Thanks for all the spoils folks.

The Topper and the Prerelease both have pretty good abilities and are foundations with blocks on them. I am finding that foundations with blocks on them are a) promo, b) rare/ultra-rare, or c) with really bad effect. And I'm also finding them +2 or higher, mostly higher.

Now I'm really burnt that we won't get tekken where I am until next weekend at the earliest!

You don't play Fire then, hi Determined (2/4 +2M huge damage pump for weapons), Brooding (1/5 +3H free damage pump), From the Mouse (again 1/5 +3M, okay intel-gathering tech), Hope for One's People (0/5 +3H, and it's great if you can manage to land in Desperation but not dead), Stand Off (2/5 +3M), heck Envoy of the Queen (that keyword matters!)

But yeah, I don't think I've seen a single foundation with a better than +2 block, and even those (2s) are not very common.

Now that we've seen the pre-release promos a lot of people were asking whether or not the promos will be available outside of the pre-release in the normal prize support. Does anyone have any information on this?

Yea Hata's favorite symbols happen to be getting every power card!! The amount of Death stuff is beyond stupid! The next SC4 set better give All, Life, Void, etc,.. proper cards.
