Disciples of the Dark Gods? Any new news?

By Peacekeeper_b, in Dark Heresy

The problem I have is that the missus ordered it for me for xmas. She ordered it from Amazon (spit!) back when it was £18 and (understandably) is very reluctant to cancel said order and have to buy it elsewhere for £30... so I may be in for one hell of a wait...

Oh, and I also am ok with the help group name-change... *sobs*

Hi, my name is Peacekeeper and Im also without DotDG. I saw a copy once at HeroCon, Ross let me look at it. I was hoping Brien would cause a distraction and I could escape in the crowd of gamers (all 12 of them) and elude capture and have my precious.

Now I wake up late at night and re-read the beast house preview PDF over and over and over again.

Hi. I am Bad Birch. I have an expensive (£35 freekin' quid?) habit that I just have to own up to among friends. Hopefully I will get my hit around wednesday, but you never know. I too can see this happening again around january and am booking myself in for some scientology! It's desperate!

P.s. While we are in the confessional, I am really all that Bad. (Sob)

Throne of Terra be praised: my copy is in the mail right now!

Amazon.ca remains faithful.

Just had a call from my local retailer....it's here...so i'll be swinging in on my way home tonight.

At last! The precious is mine. All mine. My preciouuuusssssss.

<End transmission>

As chair of DotDGA I would like to officially change the name to DHBIAGYA (Dark Heresy Books I Aint Got Yet Annonymous) as I realize we will be going through this again in February while waiting for Creatures Anathema.

All for?

Aye.

I have a feeling I'll be a member of DHBIAGYA longer than I'll need the support of DotDGA. I least I bloody well hope that I won't need the support of DotDGA for much longer!preocupado.gif

I now want it for the "most wanted" section alone. Though I am quite proud of the nemesis I've currently created for my players, he's a real "rags to riches" guy in the evil department.

Hi ! My name is Shadow Hexagram and I'm definitely desperate. Amazon UK just annouced today that I won't receive my copy of Disciples of the Dark Gods before December 25 (not even mentioning all the other pre-orders that should have been shipped around the same time and which suffer the same sort of setback...)

Curse you Ruinous Powers for damning all Western Europe with your spell of shipping stasis !!! enfadado.gif

They'd better respect the price at which I preordered it, which is quite a bit of a steal. That'd be the only piece of good news among all that jinx.

And **** you octo-ways, Ruinous Powers, for causing that double post !!

I've never been so happy not to get book.

At these support meetings, is there anyway we can take up a collection for coffee and/or other replacement substances? If I keep getting messages like that Im going to need something I can pour my flask of amasec into at work.sonrojado.gif

Might be your lucky day, I have an extra copy of the Imperial Munitorum Manual. Email me at [email protected] if interested.

Last I heard my book was somewhere in Cincinnati

Label/Receipt Number: XXX XXXX XXXXXX
Status: Processed

Your item was processed and left our CINCINNATI, OH 45235 facility on December 9, 2008. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later

Now having been to Cincinnati I suspect the book may be in one of the many bars or strips clubs enjoying its little Dark Gods on its own and wasting my time. A double slaneesh slap I call it, enjoying all its own lust and fun while toying with my emotions.

**** book.

Just saw the blurb and put an order in on Amazon. I am usually torn about such things - get stuff from the company's site, Amazon or the local gameshop. $15 off makes my choice a lot easier, and the people who work at the shop are arrogant geeks. And I can wait until after X-Mas.

Well I have my copy of this supplement and I have to say just having breezed through to look at cool stuff and read only half of it - this is one of the best gaming supplements I have ever owned in terms of content. It is also the best fluff book for the Inquisition since the (horrible) miniatures game.

Some high points:

1. The Logicians - a heretek cult I have been waiting to hear about since Inquisitor's Handbook mentioned them. They are very cool.

2. The Temple Tendency - I have always wanted to have stories of what happened to the legacy of Goge Vandire

3. Arco flagellant rules!

4. Inquisitions most wanted heretics!! - only a brief page on each but very inspirational

5. Ordo Xenos threats!! - finally the Ordo Xenos crews get to do more than just punch aliens in the face (which is really the space marine's job)

6. A discussion on Inquisition philosophies!!!!! - finally a real down to earth presentation of exactly what it means to be a Xanthite, what they do, what their goals are, etc...this is the best part about the book so far.

*ahem* I guess so, something like that and funny enough to make me forget that this forum doesn't offer any other pictures from DH.

In any case, I decided to make a little detour by the nearest local RPG store, which was quite the effort actually (I tend to agree with Rashid ad Din Sinan about the "arrogant geek" part), only to hear this:

"yes ! Disciples of the Dark Gods is out ! Yes, our supplier has it on catalogue, and has made it the latest big thing!! Yes we do have players who buy RPG supplement in English, but no, I didn't order it as it's not in French and if you were that interested, you should have come and told me before. Next order? Not before January..."

All that stinks of heresy to me...

There are enough of us in Europe, we should get a van and turn it into a Immolator and thrust or vengeance upon all heretics and game shop owner pricks.

My experience the first time I walked in was I asked if they had any Rolemaster material and the reply was 'they went out of business.' Not only was that incorrect but it wasn't the question I asked so I simply turned and walked out for about three years, until the shop I went to went out of business. After some incompetent ordering (of ironically GDW figs, 'the guy who takes care of that isn't here today' - which was inconvenient since it was the day I was told to come back, lazy because the box from UPS was sitting right there and incompetent since they couldn't find the order form), numerous MtG discussions and how their d20 character kicks a$$, including a list of all the feats said character has and what book they came from, I am really missing that old shop. Pale, overweight, 30ish year old men in threadbare Green Lantern t-shirts and scraggly facial hair should be thankful they have a job and as such at least be polite.

I remember in college the first time I went to the new game store they built near the university ans was looking for some Cyber Punk material, this was back in like 1996 or 1997. They guat at the counter actually siad "we dont play that here". I simply smiled and said back (if I remember verbatim, which I dont) "Good thing I dont play here."

Sad thing was that I was the president of the University Gaming Club. Needless to say, I diverted all the members of the club to the old comic shop that ordered whatever we wanted him to, and if it wasnt in catalogue he would find it somehow, somewhere. Course Im also convinced he was part of the town's mafia and a major reefer dealer, but hey, I got my cyberpunk books.

Oddly enough, the arrogant game store only lasted a year (to which I should have replied, we dont play VAMPIRE around here) and when a new comic shop came to town, it mysteriously burned down.

The seedy underbelly of our hobby scares the living freth out of me.

Ha ha! I seems you've stumbled upon the dark side of the gaming hobby my friend!

I've given up on preorderong any Dark Heresy material. I've accepted the fact that I will just have to wait for my local gamingstore to receive a copy.

I picked up my copy today... and this section is something that annoyed me.

I sent in my playtest feedback, and one of the major points focussed on some erroneous background in this chapter - the Amalathian faction is claimed to be one of the oldest in DotDG, yet the original source on the factions of the Inquisition (the Inquisitor rulebook) states the opposite: that the Amalathian faction originates in the early 41st millennium, and is named after the Conclave at Mount Amalath, which too place after the success of the Macharian Crusade (the conclave itself was a celebration of the strength of the Imperium, recognising that it had endured the millennia of turmoil that plagued previous millennia and come out stronger. The Amalathian faction strive to maintain the Imperium as it is in recognition of that).

I look in my brand new copy of the final book... and the text is unchanged from the playtest. The incorrect material is still in there. There are other places similarly untouched from the playtest, but that's the one that stood out to me, mainly because it was such a glaring mistake...

The playtester credits were particularly annoying as well - they list people who are presumably playtesters for FFG... which is fine, except I was asked to playtest DotDG by Black Industries, did so, and submitted feedback on the book, only to apparently have that feedback ignored and my contribution (and that of my group), small though they be, not so much as mentioned...

N0-1_H3R3, if you playtested Disciples of the Dark Gods and were not given credit, I sincerely apologize. However, please allow me to explain why that may have occurred.

Simply put, Black Industries passed along zero playtesting credits and reports for the book. We received only the manuscript. I was aware of only one group that had done any playtesting at all for the book (Sean Schoonmaker and the rest of "All Records Expunged") and those are the only playtesting reports that I have ever seen for Disciples of the Dark Gods.

It's tough not to get credit for your work..it's happened to me before as well.
