Notified by Troll and Toad that my copy shipped today.
Disciples of the Dark Gods? Any new news?
I picked up my copy from my flgs, EndGame, on the way home from work on Thursday, 12/4. They still had a copy or two on the shelf afterwards, as I recall.
So, I was wondering, what with some people having had the book as early as Thursday, if anyone's had chance to look through it yet and perhaps is able to give their thoughts? Maybe a "First Impressions" Review even?
Any info would be nice (considering being in the UK means I won't be seeing it this side of Christmas...)
Went and ordered from Troll and Toad last night. Hopefully international shipping will be kind.

Keeping in mind I am a big fan if the DH game in general, so you know my bias: so far, it is great.
To me, this book is for GM's what the IH was for players. (so I guess whether you will like the book as much as I do depend on whether you liked the IH.)
It takes a lot of the little things referenced or given quick paragraphs and really expands on them. For a very good idea of what's in here, just pick up the Calixis Sector timeline. A large number of the cults, heretical organizations, and conspiracies from that timelines are detailed in Disciples of the Dark Gods.
It is a very fluff heavy / crunch light book.
Probably the most pleasant surprise for me was seeing a section on divisive forces in the Imperium, with several pages devoted to factions and conclaves of the Inquisition. (Some of this material will be familiar to fans of the Inquisitor tabletop game.)
The Hereticus Tenebrae section is a fun read, but, due to its vagueness, not as fasincating as most of the rest of the book. Not that I don't appreciate them leaving it open for GM's to use as they like, and stating that's what they're doing.
I'm not very far into my detailed read because I was occupied last night, but if anyone has any specific questions I'll see what I can do.
Obviously, now that the book has been released, the NDA I signed in regards to it is no longer applicable - the information is in the public domain and I'm thus free to discuss it. As a result, I can answer questions about the book (though remember that I've only seen a playtest draft, so there should be some differences in the final product).
I won't, however, simply copy up chunks of text from the manuscript... specific questions are one thing, but I rate this book very highly, and I heartily recommend that people buy it...
For those who do have it, but who haven't looked through it properly yet... IMO, the best sections are the whole of Chapter V: The Enemy Within, the Temple Tendancy in Chapter II: Hereticus, The Amaranthine Syndicate and the Halo Devices in Chapter III: Xenos, and the Vile Savants in Chapter VI: Malleus.
Thanks for the info!
I was wondering, apart from the Genestealer, are there any other "famous" stat lines in the book? I understand that Orks and such are in the Creatures Anathema book, but does the DotDG contain only cultists and other human opponents, or are there new demons, aliens and the like?
I moved the Genestealer from Disciples to Creatures Anathema, because I felt that such a classic monster deserved more space in a book that would be showcasing the antagonists, rather than a smaller entry in a book about cults and conspiracies. ![]()
That having been said, Disciples of the Dark Gods does have more cool new aliens and quite a few daemons for your Acolytes to face! There are also "classic" statlines in Disciples as well, such as...Arco-flagellants, for one. ![]()

There's an Ogryn (there to assist the slavers), a Genestealer (terrifying - my Genestealer stats in Unearthed Apocrypha: The Great Devourer are based on the ones in Disciples of the Dark Gods), an Ambull (huge and thoroughly unpleasant) and a Captured Ork (even unarmed, it's very dangerous) in the Beast House section. The Xenos section also contains additional material on the Slaugth (who first appeared in the GM Kit booklet... but this time they're even more unpleasant), and an entirely new Xenos species. The Malleus section contains a few new daemons and different ways to impose daemonic taint upon creatures, such as the creation of Dybuks (who are sort of weak pseudo-daemonhosts), but no other 'well-known' daemons.
With so much focus on GM tools in DotDG, I'm not willing to go into any particular detail here, where players could be watching... there are things within that book that should be kept secret from the players until it's too late...
The Ambull was also moved to Creatures Anathema for the same reasons as above. ![]()
Ooooooo! and <sigh> at the same time.
This makes me even more disappointed that it's not available here yet... and also makes me want the Creatures book even more!!
Gah!
No offence to FFG (cos you're doing a grand job) but if BI still had the licence, I'd have the **** book already... lol!

My local store (in the UK) have told me today that it's not yet listed on their distributor's lists.
Fingers crossed it'll be here by Christmas though...
Is there any definitive date for a UK release yet?
So..............How long do we in the UK have to wait.........New year.......spring? My local game shop has no idea. books has been on order there for 2 months and still no idea if I'll see it this year. Just an idea of a uk release date, even if over-estimated would be nice for us over the pond!
Living in Norway now is agony, pain... Me wants it... Precioussss.... When will you come to me and liberate the suffering of my players...? *sigh*
Well the distributor Esdevium Games Ltd has DotDG listed for a Tuesday release in the UK, so I'm hoping my order with Leisure Games will be here ASAP after that
DW
Leisure games have confirmed it to me that they will be having it in their shop on December 10th and that they will ship it out till the end of the next week...So close ![]()
I ordered mine through Troll and Toad. The problem is that Im stationed overseas, which means all my mail goes to new york first then reroutes to the US Military then to the posts overseas. Fortunately Im in Germany so its not a huge issue, but sometimes it takes a few days, other times a few agonizing weeks. If I went through Leisure Games it would go from the UK to New York and then to Germany. Thats a long trip.
Though if it isnt here by next weekend and I happen to go to Seiben 7 Games and Comics and they happen to have it, I may fork over the Euro and have two copies eventually.
However, unlike the core book and the IHB, I dont think need more then one copy of DotDG, as my players wont be leafing through it for character generation or update or to buy gear.

Gah...double post. :S
Hello there!
I was wondering if i'm the only one who ordered his copy of Disciples of the Dark Gods from the FF store and owns it already.
It's weird to see people from US crossing their fingers to receive their copies of the book, while i've received mine two days ago, and i live in Italy.
Mine have been shipped from Noble Knight Games, so its in the mail, next week i reckon.

I just got a text from a friend of mine who works in Eclectic Games in Reading (who're supplied by Esdevium), saying that they'll have the book in by Wednesday, so this seems to pan out.
Of course, a Wednesday release doesn't help when my next DH session is on Tuesday... it'll just mean I'll be distracted during my Wednesday night RP instead...
Does anyone know a FLGS in or near Taunton, Somerset? I am working in that area next week and it would be great to get hold of a copy...
I bought a copy of DotDG from a FLGS earlier today and I must say that the book is fantastic.
The copy I ordered from my FLGS came in Friday. Just picked it up today.
