So, character blocks are top-tier

Well, for Death, Chaos, Evil and arguably Void too.

Don't believe me?

Or, as I read it, "GRAB BLOCKS LOTS OF BLOCKS OH YOU DIDN'T ATTACK? EAT DAMAGE PUMPS LOTS OF DAMAGE PUMPS"

My new filing technique is unstoppable

Eh...maybe. Jin loves the HELL out of these cards because he just loves to discard his copies.

The problem with these cards is that games aren't going to take this long. Jin is one of the most reliable, quick characters in the game, and could care less about tutoring characters at the rate he kills. Kazuya RFGs his characters. In general, it's nice to tutor characters, especially since the blocks in this game are SO NON-EXISTENT!

But I sincerely doubt Spinning Demon or Merciless Fighter will see play. Maybe The Hunt is On, but only maybe.

no these aren't squirrelly hotlinks, I moved 'em to my photobucket

Lies. You may have moved 'em to your photobucket, but you still linked to CSI

D'oh

I hopefully fixed it. And I absolutely blame Firefox for having such an innocuous tabbing system that let me forget that those images were hosted on CSI

I've seen plenty of games go to turn 3 or further, certainly to the point where filling your hand with nasty +0Ms won't be a waste of resources. I'm not thinking specifically of Jin or Kazuya with this -- I'm thinking of Cervantes, Rashotep, Nightmare or Tira just as much. Spinning Demon combos crazy-well with Merciless (I'll take a 4/3 multiple:1 3L8 any day), and just generates card advantage and a buffer so you can play more of your hand without overextending, and ultimately even play a riskier deck -- with lots of foundations without blocks, and almost no mid blocks period -- because you'll be able to fetch those +0Ms at will.

Too bad Kazuya and Astrid don't share a symbol, I'd love to use Envoy of the Queen just to dig for a character block to Hunt is On for :D

Since I'm just editting this post already, I'll respond to Tinman here too: That's pretty gross too, but it's pretty useless for decks that don't care about stacking (ie anyone but Jin and Kazuya). I'm honestly thinking that character blocks will make their way back into decks, and not just beginner decks either.

You forgot Family Bloodline.

"Sure, I'll block with my character, and, oh, it clears my card pool, gets stacked, and I draw 2-4-6-8 cards because of it. Wanna guess if I drew another character?"

-Tinman

Once we have two Kazuya and two Jin, these will definitely see more play.

There...I was positive.

With Merciless Fighter can you discard from your hand or does it have to be in the staging area?

Also what is tutoring and RFG?

Tutoring => Searching for a card in your deck or, in this case, in your discard pile. I believe it comes from the MtG Tutor cards in Alpha/Beta Edition mostly

RFG => Remove from the game

Not 100% sure if its the origin but the first card i remember was demonic tutor. For a Black and a Colorless you can get ANY card out of your deck. lawl.

Pretty Sure Kazuya doesnt RFG his char. His board gets RFG, his char just goes to discard, just to clearthat up.

Also, Spinning Demon is CRAZY good, I think it will defintely see play, I agree with merciless not seeing much play tho.

If kaz has more than one character attached, i do believe that one will get discarded, the starting will remain in play and everything else will be RFG, including other stacked characters not used for cost.

This. It is a great attack, low zone multiple with free enhance add a card to hand? A certain card? One that can then be used to block the next turn?

Yeah, it is one of the better attacks in the set.

You know who else likes these cards? Omar!

You can get back a character from your discard pile and then turn around and discard it for anything else you wanted

Yes, I traded for 'an Omar a page' and have built him 3 different ways so far. (not each way is fully playtested)

That said, anyone who disregards Omar as a competitive character card becuase of a 6 hs (most champ cards are 7?) is sorely mistaken. Recursion is the king of techs, damage pump is always nice, and Omar is a superb character card.
