Is the only way to flip this facedown through a repair?
"Before you reveal a command dial, you must either suffer 1 damage or discard that dial. If you discard it, do not reveal a dial this round."

Yes.
This game's critical damages are way scarier than X-Wing's.
You don't flip it facedown, you discard it.
But yeah, terrifying. Had that come up on my VSD in my first game. Worst part? I basically had to let it hit me twice. Ffs.
Crew panic and Thruster fissure are the two worst critical to be hit with in this game.
In fact, either of them are worse than the double hits IMO.
Edited by NorsehoundI inflicted a crit to my opponent yesterday, which didn't allow one of his nebulon to make long range attacks anymore. This was huge, and a big step to the Imperial Victory.
I got the depowered gun shots on my opponent's Victory in a 180 match today.
the strength of the criticals give General D of kind of reason for existing next to power players like Tarkin
(apart from being dirt cheap)
The other day I got the one that makes you loose all your shields on your best shielded zone.
I also saw a Victory with no shields in any zone get the critical that said you cant regenerate shields.
I got this one my first game, on my NebB.
Seeing as it doesn't go away either (i.e., no 1 turn use, then flip card face down). For a kick in the nuts, my NebB only had 1 hull remaining... So whilst in theory I could have fixed it with my Eng 3... I would take dmg before I got to repair the dmg... And because it was the first game, there were no obstacle on the board, i.e., the space station...
I had this card come up during one of my games and had a few questions. Does the damage go to shields or the hull? If shields, who decides which arc the ship suffers the damage on?
If the effect doesn't specify a face to receive the damage, the damage is all applied to one face of the ship which is chosen by the ship's owner. This could go onto shields if the ship has them and the effect doesn't specify a "dealt" card, which is always applied directly to the hull.
I got the crit that reduces your yaw at your current speed by one click on the farthest joint. That really sucks on a victory that was a speed 1 who had loaded up on squadron command dials for a kill and had to float forward 3 turns until my repair dial finally made it to the top.
In my first game my Victory, moving at speed 1, got the Comm Noise critical. The opponent drop my speed to zero. The movement command never made it to the top.
It amazing how much having Tarkin takes care of some of these.
I rolled with Luke and got the double hit result, and then structural damage. Three damage cards through the VSD's shields. Ouch.

It's amazing how much Tarkin solves most of the problems with the Victory in general ![]()
seriously, his ability is so great that I can't justify putting anyone else at the helm of a VSD. Maybe the ISD with the effective command 2 title will need him less, but **** does his flexibility make a world of difference.
Yeah the crits in this game are so bad, if you are playing VSDs you almost want the double damage crit.
