Player Numbers

By mattDP, in A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (1st Edition)

Hi,

I've owned this game for a long, long time and never played it, partly because I bought it on a whim rather than out of serious desire to own and play it.

However, I'm reluctant to get rid of it without at least giving it a spin sometime. The problem is that my regular gaming group meets for a 3 hour session and tends to attract three people at a time - four if we're lucky.

So, can I fit this game into a 3-hour session and will playing it with three give me enough of a flavour of the game for me to decide whether it's a keeper or not? How about with four?

Cheers,

Matt

Give it a go. It is a great game, although more people means more room for diplomacy and backstabbing :) There are also balancing issues that shouldn't concern you at this point until you get half a dozen games under your belt. If you end up liking it, there's Storm of Swords expansion designed for 4-player matches, I reccomend buying it.

Actually, the basic game is pretty balanced with 3 ppl., if you use the house rule to ignore the island of Pyke. And you can probably finish it in 3 hours. Give it a try!

I only really ever played the game with 3 players and enjoyed it immensely. However, the one time I've played it with 6 it certainly made it more interesting! Make sure you have a good handle on the rules before the game and you shouldn't have a problem playing it in 3 hours.
