Howling Spirits question

By chinese boxer, in UFS Rules Q & A

Howling Spirits reads, E: If this attack deals damage, for the rest of this turn your opponent loses 1 vitality after one of your attacks with a printed diffeculty of 3 or less deals damage. Does my opponent lose 1 vitality if Howling Spirits does damage, or does it have to be on the next attack that does damage. There was a dispute in a game that I played last night, and it was ruled that it would have to be the next printed 3 difficulty attack that did damage. I would just like to clear this up for the next time I play it.

Thanks in advance.

When the howling spirits deals damage the E's effect goes into effect.

After it deals damage you resolve any effects that are dependent on an attack having dealt damage.

So yes, Howling Spirit's E will apply to itself.

"when" is before "after".

Another way to look at it is when the continous ability setup by the E resolves it goes from:

"If this attack deals damage, for the rest of this turn your opponent loses 1 vitality after one of your attacks with a printed diffeculty of 3 or less deals damage"

to

For the rest of this turn your opponent loses 1 vitality after one of your attacks with a printed diffeculty of 3 or less deals damage.

Thanks for the response, I knew that I was right.

Would suck if you ahd lost the game due to not using the correct application of rules =)

I have a question for howling spirits, if you play two or more of howling spirits do the effects stack?

In a word, yes.

Its quite painful if you can get two or more off before your chain of 10 attacks or so.
