Battlefront: Dice

By Peroxis, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

You guys like Star Wars, and you guys like Dice.

Does that mean many of you are particularly looking to the next Starwars Battlefront?

I'm tentatively optimistic. I enjoyed some of the Battlefield games and the developer is very good at what they do, but the genre can lack the longevity of games like KOTOR. Plus, with a single player rpg, you don't hear little kids insulting your mum when you shoot their onscreen avatar in the face or blow them up with the more explosive kind of rpg.

Having said all that, well... flying snowspeeders and piloting AT-STs? Nerdgasm.

haha. Yeah i guess merging the battlefield community into the star wars community might be interesting.
I would probably say both Battlefield and Star Wars Battlefront would be in my top 5 shooters. My only concern would be if EA makes any decisions on what happens, same as Disney with the next SW film. But this FFG books are coming out amidst Disneys ownership so that gives me some hope.

Without wanting to derail your thread, I think Disney giving Star Wars some steer is a good thing. Whether you're into Disney or not, the company is exceptional when it comes to storytelling and that is something the prequel films lacked. I think they'll get Star Wars back on track.

Back to Dice, I'm looking forward to the game's imminent debut and I'll be in a better position to respond when I've seen that trailer.

I have no doubt the game will be glorious. I loved both previous Battlefronts, and I just prefer gaming in the Star Wars universe in general, so yeah I'm looking forward to it :)

Battlefield is my favorite Xbox game series of all time. Star Wars is my favorite movie series of all time. I'm only worried my hopes will thus be set so high that it will be impossible for it to not be a let down. :) I actually finally upgraded to an XBox 1 yesterday in anticipation of this game.

I loved the Battlefront series, but I'm withholding judgment until I see some gameplay. I'm not saying a first person shooter in the Star Wars universe wouldn't be hella fun (see Dark Forces), I just don't equate it to Battlefront. However, Dice is a good developer despite who they're in bed with, and it'll be worth seeing what they make.

And on the Disney line, I'm not worried about them being more or less involved. As Pac_Man pointed out, they're really good at telling stories. With Marvel, they primarily left all the existing talent in place and just gave them the resources and confidence they needed to try more experimental things. Star Wars could definitely use that kind of support. But again, withholding judgment until I see some proof.

I'd feel better if Lucasarts hadn't been shut down before the sale. While they were hit and miss with their games, it was always reassuring seeing the Lucasarts logo appear. Now I'm going be seeing the EA logo instead, it's... disconcerting...
