Modified Z95's, Winged Y Wing and Scum Tie "Fanged" Fighter.

By Barry Harker, in X-Wing

Hello Guys,

Continuing on from my Modified YT2400 for Scum and Villainy, I need to add Fighters and Escorts to Accompany the YT.

The idea being that the Scum Clan is made up of Various alien races, and there for there choice of Craft and Modification will change from ship to ship.

From stolen Tie fighters to Acquired Rebel Craft.

Colour wise, they will all follow the same style as the YT.

Here are the first few, which at the moment are only in Grey Primer. just in need of final finishing and sanding ready for the base coat.

and final painting.......

Modified Z95's with alternate wing construction.

Still needing some final finishing work around the Engines and wings......

These are amazing! Can't wait to see the final product!

Go Barry Go!

:D

I will be Adding Tie Fighters To the Clan.

However I'm not just going to re-paint them as these Pilots all Modify there craft in there own personal way.

the Idea behind the Tie's is that they are either Salvaged or Stolen !

And as they are part of a Pirate Clan, they can get a little creative ;)

Here is the first Tie with Alternate Solar collection/wing area......

Here I have roughed in with a fine liner what the Solar Radiator panels might look like....

Winged Y Wing....My Favourite so far.

I have shortened The thrust vector Nasals and rotated them so as to align up with the added wings on the main engines.

and added some small Canards to the nose to counter balance the wing area on the rear.

And added the missile pods on the centre engine strut from the Z95's........

Nice! I really like those missile pods there!

These are some high-class scum. The chop-shop they visit does much better work than the Ugly producers written about in the EU novels: that TIE is a work of art!

Your y-wing reminds me of the hammerhead fighters from Space:Above and Beyond.

I really love these modifications, so cool. I will say I like your second Z-95 better than the first. Slinging those engines under the wings is going to kill your roll rate, but it does look like it goes fast, so it's got that going for it. The TIE fighter is stunning. It's the best TIE fighter other than the original and the interceptor in my opinion. There are so many EU TIE models, but nothing really touches what you've come up. Congrats, it's really special. The Y-wing is gorgeous, of course as well, and I love the engines blended into the wings, very sharp.

Wow, that Y-wing looks awesome. Amazing how a few details changes everything. Well done. The other stuff is cool too btw. Keep it up, very inspiring.

**** skippy, that is superb work. Can't wait to see them in their painted glory. Just one thought though. I know you said they're all going to be painted up similar as the YT-2400, but maybe single one out with a different colour scheme, but matching the patchwork. Or maybe make it same colour scheme just darker. Why? Because they're pirates, and they're not all going to play 'follow the leader'. Maybe it's the ship that belongs to the second in command and he's itching to show up the big man. ;)

I like what you've done with all the ships, but what I like about the Headhunters is I didn't recognize them as Headhuners, That's how good they are. :D

Wow! Excellent conversion work there Barry. You've really captured the essence of the faction - Take what's available and modify it into oblivion! ;)

Good job! I do think that the panel lines could be more noticeable however. Perhaps more importantly you just gotta put some greebles on the modified parts. Star Wars ships need greebles! :)

Stunning work! What do you use to fill gaps between panels? Green stuff or something else?

Really originial modifications. I would like to see the paintjob on the Y-wing and Z-95's.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for your comment's.

I am enjoying messing about with these Xwing models....it Helps with the fact that the Game is so good as well :D

NightShrike,

Your Right about the Engines slung under the wings, it would handle like a Pig !

isnigu

I dont tend to use much in the way of filler...green stuff.

I cut and measure everything very closely and then Plastic weld all the parts together and to the hulls,

the Plastic weld uses concentricity as it flows into the joints, so this makes a good seal between tight joining lines and parts.

You know your right !

once I had the Winged Y Wing painted in grey Primer, I kept looking at it and thinking.... "that reminds me of something"

Space: Above and Beyond :D

That was a cracking show, and the Hammer Heads looked really cool

Do you Rember the Chiggy Von Richthofen episode.

The good old days of decent TV Programs......and no reality rubbish !

anyway,

I have started Painting the the Modified models, and started adding some Standard ships to the Pack.

However the Idea is to have a High percentage of them Modified.

at the moment the Models are in the simple stage of Painting, Block work in there basic colours, and simple highlight and shading.

I now need to add the dirt and grime, darken down and gloss the canopy's and shade the engines and weapons.

The Winged Y Wing is on the paint desk ready to Start tomorrow, I want to enjoy that one while finishing off these.........

The AranZ Mob

SCUM%202_zps0czcnkst.jpg

I still have a lot to do on the models to finish them off, Including the Solar collection panels on the AranZ Tie Fighter

and shade the panels on the Z'ssss.

SCUM%203_zpscqblqwkg.jpg

Decided to add an Awing into the mix......although the colour is looking somewhat 70's intiror Styling.....orange and brown.

probably has beige Valour in the cockpit ! :P

Also working on a first Rebel Re-paint of a Z95, want it to look weathered and beaten...once its finished....and not getting picked on.

SCUM%204_zps90qyxyld.jpg

I will carry on Painting and finishing tomorrow,

then post more photos.

All the best Guys,

Barry :)

Your level of execution just makes me want to quit painting. It's too good.

Nightshrike,

Dont Quit now........your getting better and better. your Naboo fighter looks Fantastic.

already in your posts you can see the improvement. and you were good to start with.

time and practice.....and some good music on in the background while you paint, very important :D

All the best my freind,

Barry.

These look fantastic. What components did you use for them?

Just Cause I needed one!

I loved that show growing up. Now, watching it, their brevity isn't perfect, but still fun!

SAAB was the Firefly of its time. If they would continue Firefly and redo SAAB using today equipment, I imagine it being like BSG

Yeah, it's very similar to BSG. I have to say I like the Colonial Viper Mk II's looks better than a hammerhead, but maybe I'm partial. I did love the female pilots in that show. When it first aired, that was edgy, as the US hadn't allowed female jet pilots.
