New to Netrunner and ran into this situation lastnight. Did a little looking around but couldnt find an answer so I thought I would ask on here.

I had Crypsis and Hivemind installed.

When I use Crypsis to break a subroutine I can use the counter that it gains from Hivemind to keep it from being trashed, but is it still considered to have a counter from Hivemind still since Hivemind still has a counter on it?

Essentially, does Hivemind give Crypsis a permanent Virus Counter or is it gone once its spent?

It will be gone once it is spent.

Hivemind gives you a counter that can be used with any of your viruses, but if you spend it with one of them (e.g. crypsis, cache, etc) then it will be gone and no longer providing the Hivemind benefit.

Yeah, Crypsis is considered to have a token, but if an effect requires you to spend or remove a token, it still has to physically come from somewhere. Hivemind doesn't give you infinite virus counters
