No, they are just banned from taking basic and heavy weapon talents. Training more pistols is allowed.

But on knave of pistols it says specifically

"may only take exotic weapon training for pistols"

Clearly the Gunslinger is meant to be able to use all pistols. That's all he can learn how to use. You can stumble over the exact wording of the rules and believe that he can only learn to use exotic pistols from now on if you really want to, but I'd recommend you go with "someone buggered up the wording, use common sense."

It's just the wording.

For SP weapons you have Pistol, Basic and Heavy. As with Las, Bolt, Plasma, etc.

But for Exotic its different. You don't have Pistol Training (Exotic), you have Exotic Training (Unique-Weapon-Here), where each weapon requires an exaxt talent.

And each weapon has a class of Pistol, Basic, Heavy etc...

I gonna play gunslinger so just wanted to have it clear. Thanks for feedback everyone.

For instance, a Gunslinger can take the Exotic Weapon Training (Needle Pistol) talent, but he/she can't take the Exotic Weapon Training (Needle Rifle) talent. Because the Needle Rifle is a rifle sized weapon and not a pistol.

Note that knave of pistols only apply to firearms. A Gunslinger is perfectly able to take Melee Weapon Training of any kind. (it's something that I've noticed that many have overlooked)
