End of Runebound?

By Ruvion, in Runebound

Sagremor,

It would be fantastic!! In this case I would solve the christmas gift issue!!!

I definitely want to see more material for Runebound, but I think I'd rather see card expansions for some of the old big box maps than another big box expansion. Not that I'd kick a big box expansion out of bed for eating crackers, mind you. =P

LOL ....whaaa?

I think with the card sleeves now sized for runebound most card expansions can be shuffled into the box expansion decks.....BUT THOSE ARE HUGE DECKS!

All I am seeing here FFG is more cry outs for more Runebound, so give it to them dang it! ugh...this is not a hard decision. Demand equals money. Those card expansions can't be too expensive to make. Only thing holding them back should be artist needing more time. I hope that is the case.

Don't get too carried away now, it's not like Runebound has been ignored for years. People are worried that Runewars and Descent might cause RB to be neglected, but so far I haven't seen any indication that it actually IS being neglected. I'm sure the large number of threads like this one are being noticed by FFG too, so no need to pull out the protest sign boards just yet ;)

hope they dont axe this great game.(IMHO) sorpresa.gif

Steve I am not pulling out protest signs. I want everyone to listen to me. I am not trying to anger or upset FFG or its fans. I just know that my post get watched by a few FFG's eyes. There is a HUGE difference between "displeasure" and "concerned". If I show concern I want it to get noticed. That is all. You are exactly right Steve. It is to early to tell what the future of Runebound holds. But a dev or FFG rep could come in and post a simple "more runebound is coming please be patient".

I am not trying to scare potential customers away or tell people to abandon ship. That is the last thing I want, but the fear of people doing that should be enough, I would hope, to warrant an official FFG post. I just want the right eyes to know that they could be doing a better job with getting involved among the community. The creators of Dungeon Twister are on BGG all the time talking about stuff. I have seen Borg even take time to post in the Battlelore threads. I just would like to see the community get a little love for the support that they share with FFG. That is all.

For me it is so uncommon to see a forum where mods don't befriend the customers. Maybe it is different for you guess it depends on the forums you are a part of. Even in the MMO world certain companies take the time to hold dev chats with the customers. Now I don't expect the FFG devs to be in the forums though because they are very busy working on multiple projects at once. I do expect the less busy FFG reps that don't make the games to come in and chat about the games they are playing and the ideas and variants they have come up with.

I hope this post was supper clear. I don't want to sound like I am displeasured, my goal is to show concern.

As always. Happy questing.

My hunch is that Runewars will make it more likely we'll be seeing new Runebound games. Fantasy Flight likes to reuse miniatures and artwork, so having multiple games with the same background means they'll be able to keep their component costs down.

I do think they should rethink how they organize their expansions. The Item&Ally / Challenge Card / Adventure deck idea never seemed like a really good way to go to me. It worked for Item & Ally decks, but you really only want a few of those, and then you have enough. Keeping the Challenge Card and Adventure decks separate was probably a mistake. I'd have preferred 60 card (and double price) expansions which combined new adventures with appropriate challenges.

I can imagine some promising variants which wouldn't fit very well in the three category mini-expansion model. How about a few "dungeons"? Or a unique "shop" in each city which would give some kind of benefit? Or a quest system (like in the Cataclysm or Al Kalim expansions) which could give you short term goals for an experience or gold reward? An evil overlord player who would work to oppose the heroes (using ideas from Descent or Middle Earth Quest, rather than the dull overlord from the Runebound Midnight expansion)? Or unique hero stories, in the style of the plots in Innsmouth Horror or Android?

Of course, in addition to Runebound add-ons, I'm hoping that they come out with a new version of Dune, and a new version of Borderlands, and more Cosmic Encounter stuff, and actually produce the canceled Arkham Horror minis, and of course the rework of Battlemist had been very high on my list. I'm sure some of the games I'm hoping for aren't going to show up.

I am all for more additional 30-pack decks for the base set and for the additional sets. Those cards should be a lot less costly to produce than a new big box set.

*swoons thinking of Runebound*

I'm really pleased to hear so many of you wanting the same thing. I too would really want to see many more 30 card desk expansions for both the base Runebound and the big box expansions.

In fact I really wish FF would produce a lot of decks for the big box expansions to make them as full and varried as the base game. The one thing I really don't like about the big box expansions is they feel like they have so few encounters compared to the base game. It's noticeable and it's the one reason why I don't play them near as much as the core game.

Why not produce a single 100 or 200 card expansion for each big box add-on instead of many small packs. If FF was worried about it becoming confusing among many add-ons (not all being for the base game) this would help a lot.

Come on FF! Read these posts! We really do want more Runbound!! :)

I hope not, as I love this game.

I don't know how the development of Rune Wars will affect Runebound, I hope FFG won't ignore it.

This game is a crowd pleaser and I've wasted many hours playing this game. The modular aspect of deck expansions make this game a different experience every time you play it.

I love Runebound, and I know you're listening, FFG.

I got into Runebound because of Runewars & I think you'll see others do that too.I had never really looked at RB until the RW Hype started.I checked out RB liked what I saw & purchased it with 6 small expansions.

Just finished my first game & was impressed,I think the 2 Games will compliment each other nicely.
