How to build/program servitors

By Kuririn67, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Hi Forum,

I am playing a Tech-Priest and I want to build and program Servitors in the upcoming future. My character is going the Magos path but will be rather an Artisan than a mere Magos.

My GM and I were thinking about some skills one will need to build and program servitors.

- Medicae = For vat-growing them and/or modify their body

- Tech-Use = For the mechanical parts of the servitor

- Trade (Armourer) = To build custom Armour, maybe even build into their flesh

- Scholastic Lore (Chymistry) = With this knowledge one could use special alloys or other materials

- Logis = Used to program the wetware of the servitors

Do you have other ideas? Did some of you actually already build servitors?

If you have other suggestions feel free to throw them in. I'm looking forward for this to be a fertile thread.

Medicae is used for sustaining of the life of your host, remember a living being must be used for a sanctioned servitor. This could require a great many tests to sustain and repair a living organism.

Also scholastic lore chymstry is like learning chemistry in college, it does not go into the actuall processes in smelting new metals.

Trade(Black smith) is more likely your construction related metal building. Trade armourer again is for crafting the armor once the basic ignets and bonings are built.

I am requiring the tech priest in my game to have at least medicae +20 and Master Chirurgeon, along with Tech-Use +20 and Trade(Technomat), before he can start making servitors. They are available to buy if he really wants one early on.

Being able to make servitors isn't a skill to be taken lightly, at least IMO, so I am being quite strict about what you need to craft one. It requires a delicate hand and a strong influence over machine spirits to create a fully functional servitor. Fortunately for him, he is about to hit level 8 and will have everything he needs to accomplish this task.
