Packaging annoyance

By Guest, in Star Wars: The Card Game

So FFG managed to annoy me a bit over the change of packaging for the Rogue Cycle.

I've just opened the plastic packaging on "Ready for Takeoff" and thrown it straight into the bin. I have the complete set of force packs and the boxes for the other 12 are all sitting in the cupboard being put to use as storage for bits and pieces. So have a life beyond delivering a product.

I think the person who decided to standardize on plastic across FFG's range should have standardized on the card type box. BTW I have never had a damaged card from any of the packs and the forums haven't been alight with people complaining over damaged cards. So I presume it has to be a presentation thing.

Personally I hope they go back to the cardboard boxes. Including conquest.

Meh It's packaging open it and recycle it. Same thing I did with the cardboard ones. No reason to save them. They won't be going back.

I thought the change would bother me, but it didn't.

I so far have only one complaint with FFG's packaging, in that it seemed a fly got between two of the cards in one of my Edge of Darkness boxes, so that when I fanned through them, the insect broke in half and spilled its (admittedly dry) juices on the two cards. I was never able to get through to customer service for replacing them, despite previous positive experience with FFG's customer service.

As far as this issue, though, I guess I'm not understanding why it's important that they go back to cardboard? Unless you are organizing your cards by Force Pack (which I think, due to the way Force Packs are themselves organized, this would be a nightmare to build a deck from), not sure why it matters. So long as the plastic is recyclable (not sure if it is or not?), whatever is cheapest for them is what I'd like them to be doing.
