I just wanted your Oppionion to some stats, keep in mind that they should be balanced with the Star Wars Armada ships.

General Rules:
Leaky shields: If the shields are hit, and are level 1 or not their full strength, when the attackers rolls 2 or more critical hits, the hull suffers a hull point loss or a face down damage card card is placed face up at the choice of the defender.

Is the D'deridex supposed to be so humongous? I always got the impression it was just a little bigger than a Galaxy and of comparable power. At that depicted size it should be able to handle a small fleet on its own.

It is ridiculous huge. It is however not very well armed or powerful. A possible explanation is that the romulans build the ultimate Jack of all trades. Perhaps it has huge storage capacites and science stations, perhaps they even grow their own food there and actually generate supplies instead of using them.

Didn't a number of the chip/token Star Trek games uses quite a bit of scuttles and small attack craft? There was also Star Fleet Battles (28mm?) that used smaller ships too. Maybe those can be added so that every ship doesn't have 0 for a squadron rating? Otherwise, why not just use something new to replace that rating?

I have my own run of customs rules for an Armada Trek mod that give every Trek capital ship a fighter rating of 1, to allow them to command fighters (shuttles basically) in a pinch. Of course, that mod is designed to integrate Trek ships into the Star Wars setting, and that's a different story...

I'd still include a small stat for people that purchased the older miniatures or got into Call to Arms. It never seemed too difficult to co-ordinate with a shuttle or two, thus a stat of 1, could work fine. It would also help in Trek versus Star Wars match ups.

Replacing the squadron stat: I think you use the stat for something very simple, then it wouldn't be too game breaking. Something like a Science stat (or equivalent) that lets you look at X cards of the damage and put all but one on the bottom of the deck isn't game breaking. Of course, they'd have to spend an order to do so. Another possibility of using a stat like Science is something like letting it be used instead of another stat for a single friendly ship within a certain range(using an order of course).

I think it may have to do with the fact that FFG licensed their X-Wing "engine" to WizKids who hold the rights to Star Trek miniature gaming, and that was before Armada was created so the loss is on Star Trek enthusiasts.

I think the miniatures is likely the reason Wizkids doesn't want to bother. It would take a serious investment to create the required new minis for an upscaled Star Trek style Armada. I think the only reason they bought the FFG X-wing license was for the quick buck on using minis they already had and could re-purpose. I would love to see an Armada style Star Trek. Unfortunately, it looks like it if ever happens at all it has to come from Wizkids.

But you have to remember that the D'Deridex has a lot of empty space between its wings. In terms of mass and volume it should be clearly smaller than a Victory-class Star Destroyer. Which is still quite big for a Star Trek ship that's not a Borg cube, so my only explanation is that it must be a combined battleship and troop ship, with a troop capacity similar to an ISD for things like boarding actions and planetary invasions.

Incidentally, I'm also surprised by how small the USS Prometheus is. I would've expected it to be close to Galaxy-class size.

Is the D'deridex supposed to be so humongous? I always got the impression it was just a little bigger than a Galaxy and of comparable power. At that depicted size it should be able to handle a small fleet on its own.

My guess is that the D'deridex class is an All-Rounder: Battleship, Carrier, Troop-Transporter, Scienceship, Commandvessel and more perhaps even a Training and Recruiting ground. We see it in this roles a lot and that would explain why its firepower is not matiching its size.

As it is as nearly long as a ISD (!) it could even have a mass compareable to that of the VSD.

I have my own run of customs rules for an Armada Trek mod that give every Trek capital ship a fighter rating of 1, to allow them to command fighters (shuttles basically) in a pinch. Of course, that mod is designed to integrate Trek ships into the Star Wars setting, and that's a different story...

I would say a higher rating for the Akira-class, since IIRC they have a shuttle bay that runs the full length of the saucer section to serve as sort of a light carrier. And the Federation did finally start fielding true fighters during DS9's Dominion War arc, in the form of the Peregrine-class.

Data's scout ship from Star Trek: Insurrection also seems like it would be something akin to a heavy fighter. It's about the same size as a Danude-class runabout, but the much smaller one-man cockpit indicates it's probably got stronger engines, shields, etc. And I would assume better weapons too, since the entire aesthetic of it just screams "Defiant" to me (shrouded nacelles, those bulges to either side of the cockpit that I've always interpreted as pulse phaser cannons).

Seeing the LCARS design for the ship and upgrade cards is putting me in a very happy nerdy place right now!

Enterprise-A was always a connie-refit type ship. As for what the actual "class" of it, that's a bit subjective. Many people call the refit connie "Enterprise-class"

I go back and forth-myself.

Enterprise-Prime = Constitution, then Constitution-II
Enterprise-A = Constiution-II class

I've also done it like this, which I personally prefer.
Enterprise-Prime = Constitution-class, then Constitution-class refit
Enterprise-A = Enterprise-class (a re-naming of another ship that was newly built).

The idea is that the Enterprise-class is a distinct and new build that may share certain characteristics of the refit-constitution, including external appearance, but that it is a distinct class - the refit of the enterprise serving as a testbed for various new technologies that would later appear in other ships such as the Miranda, Soyuz, and the Enterprise-class.

I have a 1986ish Mr Scott’s Guide to the Enterprise and a number of FASA and LUG sourcebooks that refer to the Enterprise A as an Enterprise -Class Heavy Cruiser (the Mr Scott’s Guide does say it has a cloaking device, that was retconned off by 1989). The sourcebooks run into the 90s, so it would have to be some time after that.
