Chaos Cervantes, or Why I fscking hate rotation

By MegaGeese, in UFS Deck Building

Tiny card pool is tiny. Sigh.

Characters: 3 + 1 (yeah, I know, right?)
1x Algol
1x Omar Chavez
1x Padma

Actions: 3
3x Soul Stealing

Assets: 4
2x Path of the Master
1x Acheron and Nirvana
1x Scroll of the Abyss

Attacks: 16
4x Wild Storm
4x Shadow Flare
3x Execution Technique First Rite
3x Zi Mei's Wheel Kick
2x Dark Geodude

Foundations: 41
4x Chasing After the Power
4x Communing with the Ancients
4x Feast of Souls
4x Treacherous Offspring
3x All Life is Prey (likely to be removed)
3x Body of Souls
3x Controller of Souls
3x Ka Technique
3x Ruthless
3x Dread Pirate
3x Seeking Treasure
2x Intimidating Presence (likely to be removed)
2x Beyond Humanity

Total cards: 67

Deck concept is simple: drop foundations, then play out a long string of painful attacks for the win and lulz. The deck is a bit larger than usual, but given how often you check for abilities, it's really a non-issue.

Random coincidence - nearly every non-attack in the deck checks a five, characters and Seeking Treasure being the only exceptions. Enjoy the free +1 with Cervy when you need it, but good luck landing a 3 to get Cervy to fail one of their checks =/ (this is why No Mercy didn't go in, plus the 3-diff no block)

Awesome check bonus powers activate! I should be siding into Omar for lulz and big damage. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Ask about card choices if you like, because I edited that section out, heh.

Also - I am so Shadow Flare's ***** now. I don't love it quite as much as iSpin, but hot **** almighty, I'm getting there.

I think I have four Ascending Zephyrs... I ordered four having a feeling that they'd be relativley needed... Ha ha.

Super glad I got my FotAs when I did too.. Everything is just stoopid expensives now that we only have two sets to play around with. I'm still trying to decide what exactly I should play. I could play Zi Mei, but then again, I could play Algol.. He might actually be a viable choice now.. I dunno. I've got to figure it out in an hour so I can build it before cards today, ha ha.

IMO you should run Zhao's Poison Touch over Wild Storm... it has a block :P

You could use Cervy's commit ability hoping to roll a 2, then have to commit 1 foundation to pass the check for the ability, too.

Wild Storm is fine, as it takes itself out of progressive. I would suggest looking into some void support off of Ivy. Genius Alchemist would be good, to boost some of the CC hacks. Add in Researching the Past, and you can stack your checks for attacks and abilities. You could even look at her UR Asset for some good speed bumps.

Having played it a bit today (against one B4 deck, two B3, and one LEGACY Legacy), I can state without hesitation that this deck is stupid.

Stupidly awesome.

Might replace Curse of the Ancient Mariner with Dark Geodude Ray, since it's a simpler and more efficient kill condition (1 check, 1 momentum -> 12 damage), but I dunno. I must say, Wild Storm is VERY good, and sweet merciful Christ, Shadow Flare is fscking INSANE. Seven damage...mmmm.

I ended up replacing Claws with Acheron and Nirvana (traded for it), and I took out three cards to make room for Seeking Treasure - in practice, I check my assets way too often, which is annoying when you want/need them. I'm probably going to look into a bit of Algol draw support to help me shoot through the deck, but so far, things are looking hella nice.

Also worth considering, and all Stun lineup: Wheel Kick, Poison Touch, and Two Deadly Rings. Stun the piss out of them and then Shadow Flare/Dark Geodude/Curse and Path their face off.

Will probably experiment with this deck off Chaos a bit longer, and then tinker with Void and Evil variants before figuring out how to end up. Methinks All Life is Prey will be very amusing with Feast of Souls/Chasing After the Power, and I never say no to Nightmare jankiness. Mmmm Midnight Launcher...Chaos/Evil sounds nice.

Shadow Flare might just be the last piece of the puzzle for a Feast of Souls/All Life is Prey deck... I remember seeing that combo and deciding it was way too janky and Feast of Souls was 4 difficulty, but that wasn't thinking with (portals?) miniblock.

Death/Evil needs some speed pump tho :|

I don't know if you have looked into it at all, but Third Rite might be right up your alley if you plan on running a Chaos attack line-up. Both Shadow Flare and Wild Storm fulfill the High Weapon combo requirement. Unfortunately, First Rite is the only Low Weapon off of Chaos, which means drawing into one will hold up your kill turn. Their is a plus side, though. First Rite's E works with Shadow Flare, making it that much easier to play early.

God, now I want to build this deck. Anything that works with First Rite seems better. Difficulty 3 4H7 damage attack seems really nice.

Edit: I would be running Jin instead of Cervantes, plus some of his support.

Rofl, suck it Midnight Launcher. It's really 5spd too, because their checks get -1 while it's in the pool XD

Shadow Flare is orange sex.

Yeah, I said it.

Favorite attack in block 4, possibly excepting Double Grounder Beta, Menuett as Tira, and Vibrato.

This First Rite idea is intriguing. I think I might tweak the attack lineup...4 Wheel Kick, 4 First Rite, 4 Shadow Flare, and 2 each of Dark Geodude and Mariner. KAPEW

This ^^, and yes, First Rite into Shadow Flare... Chaos attack lineup is my attack lineup and this is nasty, a 4 progressive diff attack with 7damage that comes after stun2?

Changed the lineup a bit.

Attacks are as follows:

4x Wild Storm
4x Shadow Flare
3x Execution Technique First Rite
3x Zi Mei's Wheel Kick
2x Dark Geo Da Ray

About two too many 3- checks than I'd prefer, but sweet merciful crap does this crank out damage. Path of the Master gives Dark Geodude an average of 14+ damage, and that's only after four attacks. Seems like the deck is able to push about 45 damage or so no later than turn four, assuming I don't do something stupid like trying to go balls to the wall turn one. Attack lineup is wonderful.

Foundations need a bit of work. I removed 1 each of Ruthless, Dread Pirate, and Beyond Humanity, as well as both copies of Zhao, 1 Cervantes, and 1 Algol. I've since added 1 copy of Omar, 2 Chasing After the Power (proxies =( ), 3 Ka Technique, 3 All Life is Prey, and 2 Intimidating Presence. Hoping for a Challenge has also been removed. I'm considering swapping out All Life is Prey and Intimidating Presence for some combination of Genius Alchemist, Researching the Past, and Fatherly Love. Everything still chains like a fiend somehow, though.

I <3 this deck...sort of. Rotation sucks, but this flows nicely with such a limited cardpool. Hopefully Tekken will give me something really dumb and janky to go to town with. Also worth noting is that this can be stupid with ANY Chaos character =D (like the Padma I'm siding for people that like to partial block, LOL)
