Change to Adept Loremaster path

By Salcor, in Dark Heresy House Rules

So reading the loremaster description is tates that "When you understand the secrets of the universe you understand yourself." The weird thing about this level is that the character can gain psy rating, which doesn't seem to mess this the 40K fluff, a person spontaneously developing psyker power is a danger to themselves and others. So I propose this replace all the psionic references with sorcery. Not that it is any less dangerous, but it makes a little more sense considering the amount of forbidden knowledge and other knowledge. Of course it also follows the theme of knowledge corrupts.

An entirely valid choice; indeed, had the proper Sorcery rules been in the main rulebook, I imagine that would have been the case from the start.

I plan to do exactly the same thing myself. Sorcery clearly fits better than suddenly manifesting psychic ability, especially since the book makes no mention of how to deal with someone suddenly becoming an unsanctioned psyker.

Well since most humans are extremely low level psykers you could explain it as his study of the discipline of the Psykana. Using what tricks he learns he might be able to exert some psychic powers as he begins to open up his mind. So yeah you could consider it sorcery but I wouldn't compare go so far as to compare to the darker arts displayed in Disciples of the Dark Gods.

I have always seen the Psyker levels in the Adept class as an awakening of power through intense study.

And given the nature of what an Adept in the Inquisition is often asked to study that translates to accumulated knowledge mankind was not meant to know a.k.a Sorcery, after all they will more than likely have bought Forbidden lore's buy that rank and maybe even Forbidden Lore: Daemonology/Warp (And suffered the associated crruption and insantiy of this knowledge).

So the ability to buy level 1 and 2 of psychic power are not really there for someone to develop the ability to wield controlled power (unless you will let them become an unregistered psyker which has its own pitfalls) but are there for those players who control a radical adept or even one who has slipped/is slipping onto the path of corruption.

So if my Adepts pick up those abilities I will probably allow them to buy as elite advances the other Sorcery abilities from Disciples or have the Ordo Hereticus come sniffing about looking for more black ship fodder.
