Is there a player finder of any sort? I'm looking for groups in the Wisconsin area.

Honestly from a recent attempt to find people myself, I would say every option is a 100% crapshoot.

Sometimes you get a flood, sometimes a trickle and sometimes everyone that wants to do anything is in a different time zone/continent.

Do you have any local game stores? Chatting with them can sometimes help.

I'm a fan of Meetup groups; I've made many connections through some of the ones here in the Twin Cities. For example:

It is a very different experience, but if you are up to digitally Dming the campaign you could always use Roll20. I use it for all my maps and tokens and project it onto my table for local sessions, gives me the ability to flex my photoshop muscles. ;-)
