What about the TIE (aces) ?

By maxam, in X-Wing

If no one has ever flown a list with 6 named Tie Fighters, I recommend it. Actually, fly it without Howlrunner. She's best used for formation flying and as many ties as you can get. This list doesn't really fly in formation. It literally swarms your opponent. You have to be good about not bumping, but playing with it can make you a better player.

Not quite this, but one of my favorite lists is "Fel's Flying Circus:" Soontir Fel (PtL, RGT, AT, SD) + Mauler, Backstabber, Night Beast, and Dark Curse. Everyone focuses on Fel, but the TIE's can do some real damage while unmolested.

cool list

sounds entertaining to play with

What? No one wants more TIE pilots?!? What, are you guys crazy?!? More...More! MORE!

Not to take away from the current TIEs, which are great, but let's get some more! They don't need to be game changers, but some pilots with good solid abilities would be nice!

All the existing named TIEs are very good, and I see them get thrown into a lot of Imperial lists as the only TIE Fighter just to fill in a 15-18 point gap. The only one I wouldn't play for 15-17 points is Winged Gundark.

If you're not seeing named TIEs on the table, it's not because they are bad.

look at my signature first ;P

well i would love to see more tie pilots like Quorl who was a black squadron member got shot down in the battle of Yavin crash landed in one of his moons repaired his maschine and got shot down again who again crash landed on the same moon. hes a man that survived for so long that he even met hans and lukes children. u can look up his story in the wookipedia.

Link: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Qorl

and here are some others that sit in a tie that our rebel friends didnt know

those are the Notable TIE pilots included Han Solo, who later turned galactic smuggler; Biggs Darklighter, who defected to the Rebel Alliance and 181st Imperial flight Wing member Baron Soontir Fel. who defected to the New Republic. These men were Academy graduates and officers in the Navy. Another famous TIE pilot was Tycho Celchu, who defected to the Rebel Alliance, and became a well respected member and eventually commander of Rogue Squadron

Other Black Squadron members are found here:

Lieutenant Tabris a man that got this rank under Vaders Command

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tanbris

Black 11 wampa known being an ice cold pilot

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Wampa_%28pilot%29

Villian Dance ( yeah what a name....) he even flew a lambda at the end.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Villian_Dance

and another flight leader Trel Skutu

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Trel_Skutu

with even this limited info u can come up with some nice abilities for these men

It'd be nice to see more TIE pilots, of course. Both the Interceptor (post Aces) and the Advanced (post Raider) have very much encroached on its position as the most common ship - in terms of the number of pilots available, anyway.

Of course, it'll take some careful thought to produce pilot abilities that are both worth taking and not overpowered for their price, given how cheap TIE fighters are, and given their lack of firepower and upgrade options.

I'd love to see Quorl, Wampa and Skutu. Tanbris strikes me more as a crew upgrade - yes, all right, he was a pilot, but he isn't any more at the point of Episode IV (hence the navy uniform, not flight suit). Making him a crew card who buffs the Co-ordinate action on the raider (if it has it) seems more in keeping.

Also, Aldrech Kugel and Petro from Crimson Squadron - a TIE squad that Tycho ends up flying with in the Rogue Squadron comics (long story) would be nice. I always liked that particular comic, as it was the first one I got.

I don't remember that - which story arc was that in?

There will be more TIEs in the Carrier.

I am actually wondering about Pirate Aces.

4 New named TIE pilots! Thank you FFG!

I agree its nice to get new pilots for the tie.

But the standard academy tie is so point efficient I never use the named ships....

I agree, which was my original point for the thread ... I was longing for some new named TIEs that would be compelling to field (and in Imperial Blue too!)
