Help with Pets Motivation?

By Cap Johnson, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

While creating a new character for myself, I rolled for the Pets motivation. The race is off the "Unofficial Species Menagerie," and is a Togorian. I had the idea that since Togorians have mounts called mosgoths on their home planet (Togoria), it could be possible for me to have a mount. I've searched the rulebook for any of the slightest guideline on it, and came up with nothing on it. There's nothing saying you can't have an animal mount from what I've seen, and wanted some opinions on it.

This is an open discussion, any and all help welcome.

Looks legit. Just take the Ruping from SoT and change the Claws to Teeth... Might also be worth investing in the Beastmaster Spec...

And the entire beast riding rules in Stay on Target

Don't forget that the Pet motivation specifically calls out that the pet is a noncombatant. I used it for one of my stock premades: a Rodian street urchin that keeps a pet miniature womp rat.

Pets are generally smaller creatures. Lots of people have pet dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, etc. Not a lot have pet horses or camels. While you could use a mount, consider how much space that need. A horse-sized creature might fit on a ship, for a few hours, but it needs more space to move about. Especially if you care about its health, which is likely if the beast is a pet. If you and your pet stay at a homestead with lots of space, then an animal mount would make sense. If you're shipboard though, I think it would be a bit silly, and "unrealistic."

Unless the ship has sil5 or higher I agree with you there.

A Wayfarer could have some of that cargo space converted for a rideable beast, but a YT-series freighter?

You'd never get rid of that smell!

Speaking of pets, are there any canoids out there in the Star Wars universe, that act like normal dogs?

There are Slice Hounds which can be trained.

Currently, our base is a CR90 Corvette :P

Thanks for the help guys, but I need some more... specific help. Should I use the vehicle sheet, or use my graphic design skills to whip up something less official and have community input from more experienced users on what to include?

I've been playing for about 4-5 months with only one session of myself being gamemaster :P
