Some two ship builds I made

By Lord Master Igneus, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been becoming a big fan of two-ship builds recently, and plan on trying out these builds, I also wanted to experiment with Wedge and find a way to make him effective, as I feel that his ability can be exploited well in combination with expose and experimental interface to give him a boost to firepower and also allow him to negate the bonus evade ships would normally get at range 3, with expose and the ability to target lock or focus after using the interface would provide him with good action economy. My plan is to keep wedge at range 3 as often as possible while Fat Han or Dash handles things a bit more up close and tank damage better

I also wanted to try something similar with Imperials, using two variations of Decimator builds, Devilmator, and Gunboat, alongside a more agile, but equally threatening ship that would force my opponent to decide between one or the other.

Let me know what you think! I will be trying out Dash and Wedge today probably, so I will know how well it works (or doesn't!).

Just a note about the Gunboat/Fel build;

Expose & EI would prevent the use of Ysanne as you'd have a stress token and thus wouldn't be able to perform her free action.

RAC with PtL, Gunner and EU is a fun one to run with a phantom or some TIEs

I like the idea of double YT builds. How about:

Han Solo: lando, gunner, veteran instincts

Wild Space Fringer: HLC, outrider, recon specialist

Four red and two green dice means the YT 2400 can make good use of a double focus. I think lando is built for the falcon, there's a 40 percent chance of getting a double action and falcon could really benefit from extra evade tokens.

Falcon can fly behind YT2400 and get close to anyone trying to tail the outrider.

Not exactly. When its time for Ysanne to kick in, you do NOT use Expose during the activation phase. Instead, you use EI off of the free evade action Yssane gives you at start of combat phase.

To OP: as for the rebel 2 ship builds I really don't think either of those will work. Wedge is too squishy to survive generally, and you're making it even easier to kill him by using Expose. Predator is a far better upgrade for Wedge (or even push the limit if you haven't got a Defender). R2D2 is not enough to protect him in this list because he is so obviously the first target to go after and has no ability to tank or arc-dodge focus fire.

Hmm, I feel like he would be able to do okay if I kept him at range 3, I've just been wanting to try and find a way to make him very viable and effective, in a sense I guess I'm trying to run him as more of a glass cannon, and wanted to try something different. If he doesn't work I'd switch him out for corran with VI, R2d2, and FCS, maybe an EU if I can afford it.

Actually that wont work as Ysanne does not have the "Action:" header that is required to activate EI. Thus if your not using Expose + EI your carrying 7 pts that would give you no benefit after you've taken 5 damage. (Assuming that your using Ysanne once you have that 1st damage card)

It actually does work.

Here's how it goes.

During activation phase, you move and take an action like target lock.

Then, at the start of combat phase, you get to take a free action with Ysanne Isaard, so you do. Now, let's see the text of Experimental Interface: 'once per round, after you perform an action, you may perform 1 free action from an equipped upgrade card with the "action:" header. Then receive 1 stress token'.

So, Ysanne Isaard is an action---check! Now EI can kick in letting us perform a free action with the "action:" header. Which Expose qualifies, so we perform the Expose action. Then we receive a stress token and combat continues.

So I tried Wedge and Dash, went up against IG-88C and Kath (me and my room mate don't have 2 aggressors yet sadly). His list was... not optimally built, but Wedge wound up doing the most damage, he lost his shields and got them back by the end of the game and dealt the killing blow to both ships with no hull damage. Range 3 sniping was really effective and I think he might shine more against larger, or lower agility ships, but he did fare quite well against the aggressor, and I was able to, for the most part, keep him out of their firing arcs. Being able to focus and then expose was worth it and helped him deal out hits more consistently.
