Hi need a bit of clarity

Hi I was reading through the onslaught at arda 1 book and i was reading the stats for the anti-infantry and the anti-vehicle lasers.

Have I missed something (really possible) or is there a reason that the anti-infantry laser does 10 more damage?

I just would have assumed a weapon built to take out heavily armored vehicles rather than squashy meat bags would do more.

Any thoughts?

The laser cannon on the Anti-Infantry turret deals damage on a personal scale. The Anti-Vehicle turret does damage on a planetary scale. So the Anti-Vehicle turret actually does 60 damage to people and outranges the Anti-Infantry turret by two bands (Assuming you go directly from Personal!Extreme to Planetary!Close then Planetary!Short).

Ok i understand the outranging side of things but I cant find anything about the extra damage. where abouts is it in the core book?

The damage scale is a assertion based on the Damage required to punch through Vehicular armor. Its in the Vehicle section compbat where it speaks about 1 point of vehicular armor stops 10 points of personal damage.

Thus a player shooting at a AT-AT would need to do 60! points of personal weapon damage to get through all 6 points of AT-AT armor.

Vehicle weapons on the other hand use the vehicle scale.. 1 pt damage vs 1 pt armor.

Thus the extrapolation 1 Vehicle weapon point of damage = 10 points of Personal scale damage and so is the opposite.

Thus.. a PC getting hit with 6 points of medium laser damage mounted on a tie fighter would be in fact taking 60pts of damage before soak...

POOF!...

Edit: If you looking for a hard rule where it says this you wont find it. Its an assumption based on scales and when crossing those scale lines. That's why it is EXTREEEEEEEMLY dangerous for PC's to be charging AT-ST.. sure they look all cute on those two wobbly legs...but..

thanks for the page ref i must have missed it. so the anti-vehicle laser would do 6 actual damage against an at-st but the anti-infantry laser would only do 1. that makes sense now. thanks all
