Sympatheizer Gameplay question

By halftard, in Battlestar Galactica

In a 4 person game, I am an unrevealed cylon. I draw the sympathizer card, and because the humans are doing very well I immediately go to the resurrection ship--at this point I cannot activate the cylon fleet nor can I play a Super Crisis card.

On my turn, I want to make the humans cry. Tell me if the following actions are legal:

1. At the ressurection ship, I spend my Super Crisis card (different from "playing" it, right?) to give another player my unrevealed loyalty card. Now he's a cylon and we have, in effect, a 2 cylon team vs. 2 humans.

2. Or, instead, I choose to reveal my loyalty card. Now, I can use all cylon actions and, basically, the sympathizer card means nada.

Is that right?

You don't get a super crisis card when you are a sympathiser. You also do not need it to activate the ressurection ship, nor do you in any way play or spend it. You simply do not do the super crisis part of the action (which is optional, btw). I believe you could play the loyalty card if you wish, but it would be better to give it to the President or Admiral.

As F50 points out you don't get a super crisis card when you resolve the sympathizer card, nore does the lack of a super crisis card hinder you from giveing away your unrevealed loyalty cards.

Wether or not you can "reveal" your self as a cylon when you are allready a revealed cylon is not clear in the rules. But then again, I can't think of any situation where it wouldn't be more beneficial to give away any unrevealed cylon cards if you are allready a revealed cylon your self. And being a sympathizer on the cylon side counts as being a revealed cylon as far as the rules goes, page 19 in the rules. So it's not realy relevant any way.

Okay, thanks...I didn't see that the Super Crisis card was optional!

If this is completely true then the FAQ has something to say:

Q: Can a revealed Cylon player use the actions from his
unrevealed Loyalty cards (for example if he has a second “You
are a Cylon” card)?
A: No. He may however give his unrevealed cards to another
player by using the “Resurrection Ship” location.

And this would mean a unrevealed Cylon who becomes a Sympathizer by either drawing it, or being given to him by a revealed Cylon, joins the Cylon side without a Super Crisis Card and can't use the Cylon Fleet action....but can use the Resurrection Ship action to give his still-unrevealed "You Are A Cylon Card" to another player.

Ah, the FAQ, I should have looked there!

If you are a revealed sympathiser early in the game and so you get kicked of Galactica as the mini Cylon the first thing you should do in my opinion seriously consider using the Res Ship to hand the loyalty card you still have to someone else. If its a Cylon you just put a Cylon somewhere useful, it if isn't then make them suspicious of their most useful player. The look of panic as you hand the card over with a faint smile is worth the super crisis card on its own gran_risa.gif
