Try running her on good my did and she is undefeated granted she is type three but turn two 50 speed 60 damage is a laghing matter
So Hilde...(cereal discussion)
Type 3? You mean block 3 rather than block 4? So basically not relevant to this thread's discussion at all?
Since this thread somehow was bumped...
Hilde is hit hard by one of the new promo characters - Brian Fury and his first enhance. Not hard to sideboard him from Astaroth/Ragnar/any Fire character damage pumper really...

I must admit I feel Hilde has been powered down with the influx of tekken cards coming in and only a few throws for her to abuse, also she doesn't make the best use of financial troubles. :/
On my personal tier list I've ranked Hilde as B tier, because she's note exactly crap or unattemptable by any means. However I just feel as if she's never going to truly matter in NEWFs, she just dies to easily for my liking and eventaully becomes predictable.
A Few mental notes and guidelines:
18 vitality dies extremely quickly, hence if you want to play Hilde competitively ALWAYS treat the game as if you have to kill turn 2-
Dual wielding is her Signature card always run 4 in Hilde no matter what.-
Don't underestimate Hilde's support cards, they are fairly good, Nobility of the wolf speeds up the kill, Eagle talon is cheap, effective and draws through your deck quickly while combing with Fire shadow (Also good attack to run in Hilde.) Unstoppable conviction is a great pump and filler to boot, Hope for one's people is amazing!
Completely Forego Siren's call it's unneeded in Hilde TBH. A 2 check is really unnecceassary and it's E does no favours in Hilde :/
On the other hand, Always Consider lightning horn if you can but remeber it'll be a 7 Diff attack to use it's combo.
Just like every other character you're better off using Throws as opposed to non- throws.
As far as deck construction is concenred you want to only really run 12-16 attacks, 4 dual wielding, 4 Path of the master and or Hilde's assets and the rest as cheap, spammable foundations which either pump or block. Remeber you've got to finish it quick :/
Always build at least 5 foundations turn 1 where you can.
Just some general advice since this discussion is once again of relevance
Thanks
Dan
That's some good stuff, but I disagree about Siren's Call. With good checks, Siren's Call -> Dual Wielding only costs 1 foundation, and deals 17 damage before using any costly enhances, and gets +6 from PotM right there. The biggest 3cc attack that doesn't require a 7+ check or another attack (see Midnight Launcher) only does 6 damage... and it's hard to kill when your Dual Wields only give +6.
I also like using First Rite/Fire Shadow as pokes, using Hilde's free E to get me a card back. 2 free damage is always nice, and their blocks are top-notch... and I've taken a liking to Eagle Talon for largely the same reasons (it always replaces itself, and gives me +1 net cards if they don't block). Playing it after a low poke makes a fairly good beater move, too.
And what you say about throws -- super awesome tech: Pump the hell out of a throw, and when your opponent tries to Paid to Protect to play a block, react with Perservering Despite Rejection.

That's the entire problem Waffle, it's with good checks, which by including Siren's call or hell any attack really then it will not always happen =/ Hence why the hilde player needs to prioritise on building T1 with alot of spammable foundations.
I LURVE Your super awesome tech, Perservering just found a USE!!!! O_O
AWESOME Wafflecopter fanboy level +1
Cheers

yes and no, but people will just jump over Astrid (<3) order build. Or maybe everyone is sick from order since block 3

actually, its notALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD
Order's only card is Bloodline Rebellion, lol.
Well, thankfully Faithful Bodyguard and Sworn to Protect can help stop Hilde, but really, they aren't enough (especially Bodyguard since it requires a character and shares no symbols with The Hunt is On).
I'm not too sure if she'll have the profound impact she had last game since she doesn't have Healer to LOLRESET her attacks, but like I've said, I've rung out roommates enough to the point I had to change chars (which was to James Hata, not much better XD), and I have an extremely jank build (2 Dual WIelding? The f--k?).
I still remain unconvinced that Hilde and Astrid are the BEST characters of the block.
^Cursed Blood too lol
Hilde basically says, "For 1 attack, your damage penalties are bonuses and you're unblockable." Hilde+Healer said "For 1 attack, your penalties are doubled bonuses, and you're unblockable." She still works OK, just not as big... the main part is the unblockable part, and you can just use conventional damage pumps (Enraged Golem, Determined, Stand Off, stuff like that) to make it fatal.
I think her biggest problem is that it's very difficult to build a Hilde deck to beat Rashotep and still have a decent explosive win. I think I might be on to something with Wonderworld Comics -> Third Rite as an alternate win, but I don't have the WWCs to really do it :[

Ya I know.

we call him "He Who Must Not Be Named"
I'd ask how you knew I was reading that, but I don't think I want to know...
But srsly, the entire weekend, he called me Wakeen maybe three times. The ENTIRE REST OF THE TIME...MEGAGEESE MEGAGEESE MEGAGEESE. ffs. I even said that once: "I have a name, y'know..." The ATL crew does it a bit, but it's for lulz and it's awesome. And they know my naaaaame =/
/vanity
Speaking of which, we need more SNK sets =/
Also, Now I'm gonna play Hilde off of Order to give you lot a big middle finger, instead of off Good like I'd planned <<
The only problem with Order Hilde is that we wouldn't know it was Order Hilde unless you were running her with Cursed Blood and Bloodline Rebellion =p
Also, yes, we need a Samurai Showdown set. Now.

I kind of went compulsive on the morning of labour day and built Hilde followed by playtest and rebuild for 6+ hours, which is kind of a UFS record for me, build sessions usually take on average 3-4. I suppose I pass some of the blame on the new Tekken cards, they add new time and joy into the building process - can't wait until the next card pool expansion. However, most of the blame came between tradeoffs between two different attack line-ups, it boiled down to better blocks and checks but needing the inclusion of PotM vs. quicker kill and more control of the board - the latter won out.
In any case, my conclusion is that Good needs one more character (another 3-4 playable and w/synergy foundations) before I can mono-it in good faith and expect to win at an acceptable ratio with Hilde. After which, good will be very playable, and in the way I like best - with the speed technique!
The result of too much time on a sinlge build is a Hilde that has Rashotep hate in it... Granted Rashotep and the Prerelease Tekken card (Paid to Protect) are more or less the only thing that stands in the way of Hilde absolutely ruining face. Well, those and the conventional kill her before she kills you technique are the only thing that stops her. Luckily Hilde has answers to both of her problems, which, imo, is why she is top tier.

Isn't it ironic that when you typed that i was wearing my glory to hypnotoad shirt? O.o
I might've already gone crazy about this, but since I see dut mention Paid to Protect -- draw a Body Slam (Ragnar's 4M6 throw) and pump it to ridiculous heights, then when it gets hit by Paid to Protect you respond with Perservering Despite Rejection to increase the damage by the amount the speed was reduced, ie probably more than the damage was at in the first place
