One of my friends thought starting the players with one draw from the copper chest deck for them to use to sell for more equipment or to swap to make the best chance for the players. for use with the compendium quests but he was very specific that the player only get one draw and if they didn't want the item they could sell it not draw a differant item. I haven't tried it myself but sounds like away to balance the quest these much harder quests.
