Half-painted Neb-B

By Major Mishap, in Star Wars: Armada

Anybody have any joy from customer support about their half-painted Neb-B's?

According to customer support they are supposed to have no detail painted on the Nebs rear, but my friends is fully painted. No response from them after the original 'tough luck' response.

The 'behind' of my Neb was unpainted.

Did it myself in less time than it would have cost me to email FFG.

But i might have the advantage that I am an oldskool wargamer with plenty painting experience...

It's not unpainted, just unwashed

a local member applied a wash to the rebel capital ships and they look ******* fantastic :D

It is meant to be a very light grey with alight wash, some may look unwashed, or partial washed. Them's the breaks with pre-painted miniatures.

After i had looked at mine, i realized the ship is two pieces. The front section has a base coat of dark grey and then had it's plates surface painted with white (or whatever color that is). The rear section was based in white and nothing else. This gives the fromt section the illusion on having been washed while the rear looks like it wasnt. At least this is what mine looked like out of the box. Some people were lucky enough to get model that actually got factory washed. But the bulk of us either got completely unwashed models or the wash was so weak that you just cannot see it. I broke down and slapped a watered down army painter strong wash on both my ships. They look much better.

Mine seems to lack a few specks of darker grey on the vanes and overall any washing on the rear part, so fixing it myself would cost me less time and effort than trying to get support to replace it.

I just did a Nuln Oil wash over both my Nebulon and my Corvette and they look great.

As far as modeling and painting goes this is the easiest thing to fix. As mentioned a little watered down black wash will do the trick. That is all your ship was going to get at the factory.

Again, another wargamer with paints.

Much peace,

the armada minis are very well detailed and the lack of wash (or minimal wash) doesn't do them justice

Wargamer, so it took five mins to dig out the wash and do two NEB-B's. The front end is a bit light on the wash as well. It's just more apparent on the back.

Bit of a suggestion. If you frequent a local FLGS ask around, somebody may be able to do a quick wash for you.

It really is so easy, that everyone can so it! Get some GW nuln oil wash, and apply it all over the parts you want to shade. Be sure, that every spot is covered, and that there are no big drops of wash in one spot. Let it dry, and you're done! It will Look alot better, than before.

I received my cores this week and all of the Neb-B's are the same. The back is the same color as the front, just the front also has darker parts along with the light grey color. I agree that a quick wash will do wonders for the overall look of the models

Malev, your CR90's look great!

Amature painter. Took maybe ten minutes of work between the Neb-B and Corvette to just give them washes. Then I added just a little bit of colouring to the Nebulon to make it as accurate a Redemption as I could manage. :3

Hi. Totally new painter. What is a wash? What does it do?

The GW nuln oil is a good one?

What about for givin shadow detail on Xwing models?

That in essence, is what a wash is. It is a liquid that simulates 'shadow' upon the model. Nuln Oil is a great one.

I also used nuln oil on my xwings when i was doing a test run.

And, with all of them complete. (15 minutes time)

A very simple thing to do, with the hardest part being brush control. Nuln Oil Wash whole model > Bleached Bone on the model > Final detail works. Black/Red lines.

Much peace
