If Boomer uses her once-per-game abillity to make a choice on a Crisis skill check, can Helo change that decision?
Helo and Boomer
Helos ability referes to is when the crisis card presents a choise, "Chose A OR B".
Boomers ability is to decide the outcome of a skill check not a "choise".
So my conclution would be Boomer can not change Helos desicion (or any normal decision) on a choise crisis.
My intuition agrees with you. However you (and my intuition) are purposefully changing the language on Boomer's card from "choose" to "decide". Tthe language on the cards say:
"..Once per game, before resolving a skill check on a Crisis Card, choose the result instead of resolving it normally"
"Once per game after a player makes a [read: any] choice on a Crisis Card , you may change it."
This is very similar language, hence the question. Also, the last line of your post confuses me. Should it read "So my conclution would be Helo can not change Boomer's desicion on skill check crisis."?
I kind of missread your post and thought the question was is Boomer could changes Helos decision, sorry for the confusion
I see your point now. The text on boomers ability changes the skill check to a choice, hence Helos ability might apply on it... Thats' a though one, my intuision still says the answere is he can not change Boomers "chois", but I no longer have any solid support for it in the rules. Perhaps our best friend could help out here
Already on it, Chief.
This is actually easily seperateable. Consider how (some) Crisis-cards are build: Current player/Admiral/President chooses: Either A (usually a skill check) or B (a negative consequence, but not as negative as a failed skill check). If this player in question as made a choice, Helo then can use his ability to reverse the choice.
On the other hand, there are outcomes of skill checks. This outcome would be important if the player in question has made the choice to initiate the skill check (option A). In this case, Boomer can then hop in and simply decide how the skill check has ended (fail or pass).
That's the gist of the two abilities, and you see that they can only in a secondary way influence each other.
Funny consideration: If Boomer and Helo gang up on one player, he will have no say in how a crisis is resolved at all.
Totally with Mike on that one...
Boomer is not affecting a "Choice Card", she is invoking an "automatic pass" - but its still a skill check. Her ability does not change the crisis card type...
