FF Heresy vs. BI Heresy?

By flyingcircus, in Dark Heresy

I have the original BI Heresy Core book, is the FF version different in any way? Just wondering if I need to pick it up as an upgrade. gran_risa.gif

I also have the BI core book. So far I have yet to discover any major changes not already adressed in the errata. So you should be fine with the BI corebook and the latest errata...

So the FF version is just the same but with the erratta in it?

Some of it. But mostly they are identical except for the logo.

I have the BI book, one of my players has the FF one. As yet we have not found anything different during play (Thats the Intro adventure, the Edge of Darkness, the adventure in the rulebook and most of the first in Purge the Unclean done so far - so a reasonable amount of play and activity of varying types that we have got through).

The Calixis sector map in the BI version has a few mistakes, mainly duplicate planets (there are two Bronts for example). I only have the BI version, but I use the online Calixis sector map, which I imagine is duplicated in the FFG book.

wasnt the origonal premade adventure in DH called Illumination?

Nope, the Calixis sector map is wrong in the FFG version as well. At least the version my friends have, I can't say for sure if FFG has corrected this with other printings though.

I haven't seen the two Bront's but my map in the BI version has two Vaxanide's which looks a bit odd of course. So the online map is the way to go.

All the more reason for a complete Calixis Sector sourcebook to clear up these little ambiguities! happy.gif

That's an idea I can certainly get behind.

In fact, once most of the Warhammer 40.000 roleplay sourcebooks are complete (Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader and Deathwatch). Meaning, when we've reache the point when you don't really have the need to bring up new weapons, gadgets, monsters etc. etc. I'd like to see some sourcebooks that are really fluff-heavy, and compatible with all three game systems. Perhaps writing sourcebooks about different sectors than Calixis or the Koronus Expanse?

An in depth sourcebook covering the neighbouring Scarus sector? Or why not a sourcebook dedicated to a sector within a completely diffeent Segmentum of the galaxy?

Something like that could keep the game alive for years and even decades to come. Who knows? It might be just get the same longevity as Call of Cthulhu? happy.gif

Indeed. It must be kept alive until the stars are right! gran_risa.gif

I mean, somehow somewhere an apocalyptic event brought on by the tyrant star must occur, but only when the stars are right.
