Of course getting a JJ now that someone had to go ruin it for the rest of us..........

Knowing JJ I doubt he will put one persons rash actions against the rest of he UFS community, as long as you ask him nicely enough. gui%C3%B1o.gif

As much as I want one I can't blame him for being steamed, especially with him just giving them away. You really shouldn't make profit of someones generosity like that. Still, JJ if you reading this I'd love to have one :D

Anyway back to the main discussion:

One thing I'm curious about is how handsize will effect things now, especially with the limited amount of draw, since card advantage is BIG in an aggressive game.

Did somebody say "handsize"?

REVERSE DDT! DROP HIS ASS!

*sploosh!* (or any other noise appropriate)

DOOM!

as per Ring of Destruction.

In the previous formats, card advantage was huge because the defensive card pool was so strong. People wanted a bigger hand size to spam foundations and get set up/find key pieces faster than other without worrying about their life total (ie gill). Now, it seems ilke the tradeoff between life and cards is much more relevant simply because you can get blown up that much quicker. Now rather than say "im playing this 7 handsize character cuz i can find all my stuff before my opponent" its like "im gonna play this 6 hand sizer and not get ripped in half turn 2." 18-20 life seems very easy to chew through in this format especially with the presence of good off zone attack, lack of solid blocks, and relative lack of denfensive tricks outside of stuff like stand off. is the extra card worth what amounts to another turn to stay alive?

I personally think it will mean less in the current state of the game. While having a bigger hands means you build faster (theoretically) it also means your opponent kills you faster.

In all seriousness, any of King's cards that either reduce handsize or limit the cards they can draw are going to see mad play, simply because there isn't nearly enough draw to really counter it (Relentless is probably the best draw in the format).

this and kings support matches symbols with mac. its going to be very easy to keep people off of cards and staying honest.

Also, you're missing some of the best things about padma, imo. Tira Burn attacks. Sweep Kick is a 2/3 5 damage (or 4 damage on a half block), Lowdown Neb is a 4/3 5L4 minimum, and increases by 1 per attack in your cardpool. Sweep Kick is too good to not run in her though. it's like a 3L5 +0L block. (This chaining off death, it's how i have her built atm)

i hope so because jj looks seriously pro. every character in b4 needs their abillities and so he can easily negate every character in the game. i really hope i can still get a free copy. (**** french guy)

Dams, you're a ******* knave. You're now on the Chris Kovaz Tier of UFS Players.

@JJ: Is there anyway that I can still a card from you, or are you truly done circulating?

e-mail him, you should get a pretty fast answer :)

King is downright nasty; he's actually going to keep me from dual-symbolling my deck come Tekken, because I'm going to have to have a 6HS guy in the board against him.

(which also might come in handy vs throwspammy Rashotep)

I EMailed, and got no such response =/

Also, I wouldn't side Rashotep to counter King; I'd side Ancient Burial Ground to counter King (and Cassandra, and Kisheri, and anybody running From the Hawk, Keeper of the Watchers, etc) and his Jaguar Hoodie. Burial Ground, as such, I truly feel is one of the only Terrain worth running, as it also blanks assets (which are quite vital to the strategies of aggro decks such as Eiserne Drossel Tira and Jimmy Kimmel Astrid).

The great thing about running Rashotep is his ability to go from control to aggro when he sides right into King and loses none of his Throws =).

I think King is going to take the Tekken pre-release. Kazuya is just horrible, since it's doubtful you'll get more than 1 copy of him. The rest of the cast is pretty reliant on their support, and while you could argue the same about King, he just needs Throws in a format where resource restrictions don't matter, and where his E goes hand-in-hand with Throws =).

Dry cut of the new stuff:

-No free momentum. Still have to work for it. Especially against King.

-No real change to the blocking status. Your offense is still your best Defense.

-Torn Hero will be in every deck that can run it.

-No Astrid support, and nothing to really help Hilde do her thing.

-Fire is a happy child at Christmas time.

-Earth is not too sad either.

More discussion to come, we hope.

-Tinman

You still have to work for momentum? Sure...unless you...

A) Are named Earth or Void, who has access to all the Throws that matter
B) Have Air-Chaos-Void, and can merely turn Mishima Zaibatsu Leader sideways (on any player's turn, I might add)
C) Have balls, Chaos-Death-Earth, and use Maniacal Laughter for some cheap momentum thrills (much like Treacherous Offspring)

Torn Hero already IS in any deck that can run it thanks to Close Throw, First Execution Rite, Wheel Kick, Pommel Smash, etc.

Nothing to help Hilde do her thing...except for EVEN MORE Fire/Order Stun cards, because she really needed more.

Fire has most definitely jizzed in its pants. It's rise to top tierdom went without a hitch. It's debatable what's best, between Fire, Death, Earth, and Life, but I view it as such.

Death has a lot. It can kill with Lawn Chair - Breaker, it has Rashotep's control and Cursed Blood for speed.
Earth has a lot. It can Throw with the best of 'em, defend with Torn Hero and Memories of a Nightmare, and kill with a Sieggy's Pyramid Head Chop
Life is a toolbox. It has kills (Menuett, Vibrato, Ivy + PotM), defense (same as Earth's, for the most part), and a good list of chars.

Now you look at Fire.

It has Pommel Smash/Paul Phoenix, choice commit, which means that anybody who doesn't have a ready Torn Hero (or any copies of it) are going to cry tears, ESPECIALLY on any Stun Reversals (not sure if there are any, unless you're named Astrid). Choice commit has always been important, especially in an environment where almost everything is brainless damage pumping.

It has some otherwise free damage pumps in Brooding/Plunder and Hungry for Battle. Nom nom.

It has characters who exist to kill quickly, be it Hilde with her one-hit ring outs, James Hata with his extremely hawt Fire Beatz, Astrid with her redonkulous aggro game, or Paul Phoenix with his (props be to Tinman) Wheel Kick Wheel Kick GRRROOROROROIYAYAYAYAYAYAAAAAA!

So yeah, Fire's gawt it. Still, I'm really putting my money on Rashotep. We'll see =)
