Searching for something to replace my both arms

By egalor, in Dark Heresy

Sharpen your teeth you poor bastard.

Seriously find a tech adept who is willing to craft some arms for you in exchange for a favor from the group, could make for a fun little side-quest. I had one instance in my old group of the arbitrator blowing off his own leg by accident (what is it with arbitrators and losing limbs), and there was a very friendly tech adept just waiting to help him... free of charge. The entire group thought i was being too soft on the guy. Little did they know the friendly tech-adept was just a very dangerious heretick who wanted to expiriment with replacing machine spirits with daemons, and the arabite got a new daemon pal with his new leg. He knew something was up when he woke up from the surgury and I passed him a note saying (23 corruption points).

Hehe, I was a real A-hole GM ;)

Wow. "Searching for something to replace my both arms," has officially become my favorite thread-title to ever appear on this website. There is something so marvelously unfortunate sounding and innocent about it. I'll be laughing about his for a few hours.

I would have them both replaced with mono-edged cybernetic crocodiles. That'll make people think twice before interrogating you next time.

Also. Three cheers for XISOR for the 'armless comment. That got a laugh out of me.

Heh, I really like the ideas to say! I only wish I could have more than two arms.

What i definitely like as the arms replacement:

- an eviscerator;

- an injector (looks scary and cool);

- a flamer;

- a cannon;

- and of course two bionic arms with hidden implants (grenade launchers).

We're playing tonight, so I guess I would have to start borrowing money from my fellow Acolytes, as using my Arbites uniform to get free bionics (as suggested above) while on our current mission is rather dangerous.

BTW, I think it's a very nice 'trigger event' to start my path towards radicalism, don't you think? A nice opportunity for the roleplay.

And one more thing: are there any weapons that use human jaws to pull the trigger? I would be especially interested in weapons with little or no recoil.

And we shall call you: the swiss army-man. He comes with numerous attachments, a true "multi-tool". gran_risa.gif

I would recommend replacing one arm outright with a chainsword. Its powerful, its intimidating, and it can be used for more than just combat (cutting through barriers, creating "sawed off" weapons, etc.) Let the other limp be replaced with a standard bionic arm so that your Arbiter can still use a gun and make use of fine manipulation.

Be quiet!

You're ruining a great roleplaying opportunity here!

Let him have a gun and a chainsword attached to both his arms respectibely. Then when he has to ride an elevator, and realize to his horror that the floor-buttons are really small and fiddly. gran_risa.gif

In my game this will all cease to be fun and games when it comes to bodily function time... if he's lucky the other acolytes might consider wiping him.

Doubt mine would, they're bastards

Perhaps it would be prudent to get a mono-task servoskull to do such things for you? (aptly named "the sh*tskull" partido_risa.gif ).

To be honest though, I think I could handle not being able to wipe myself without that much of a heartache. But.... Imagine never being able to touch a womans boobs with your hand again! sorpresa.gif

"Come here you bonnie lass, let me caress those plump juggs of yours with the barrel of my "hand"-gun and the teeth of my "hand"-chainsaw..." babeo.gif

Not bloody likely.

And that's where it'll all stop being fun and games. Unless you play a tech-priest with chem geld of course, then it won't matter anyway. (and thank the Omnissiah for that!)

I would go the route of having big gnarly 40k-ish metal replacements with whatever number of fingers you think would be nifty. Make sure that they provide enough of a strength boost that you can weild the types of ranged weapons that would normally be in the hands of a space marine or pintle mounted to a leman russ... Ripping doors off hinges, punching out heretic faces and making a satisfying metal >crump< sound when your fists connect with things beats hand canons and robocop gun sliders.

Besides, having weapons incorporated on your person can make for an awkward explanation should you ever take a crit to the replaced limb and have to convince your GM that the amo didn't just go off.

I think you should put serious pressure on the Inquisition or Arbites since you were (presumably) injured in the line of duty. If they won't play ball, the hell with them. Replace one arm, and you're pretty much functional, and can go about earning the second replacement. I would recommend a bionic limb with a vivisector on it, very arbiter-esque, making you into a nazi interrogator of sorts. This is also an effective weapon for dealing with unwanted close combat if you load the vivsector with Morphia V or some fast acting sedative.

hmm a Gun Arm not thinking of a large violnet black guy from a particular computer game are we?

you could always become a servitor!! depends on your money and or favour with your Inquisitor if its good maybe a good bionic right arm and a weopon left arm, that way you still have a hand that is usefull and one thats deadly!!

That's rather sadistic and cruel don't you think?

Well I can't find any use for an armless acolyte at all. Too bad, we'll just have him go through servitorization. As soon as one loses their arms, we might just as well give him a frontal lobotomy. lengua.gif

If you have a tech priest friend have him and your friends accompany you into the underhive to find an unlicensed cyber mod dealer. Basically force the guy to give you new arms while your friend checks to make sure he isn't doing anything wrong. Then when you're done put a bullet in his and burn down his shop. Hell if you guys wanna make some money just rob the place. The only drawback I can see is that the dealer might be part of a syndicate that doesn't take kindly to being thrashed. Oh well, more bodies to the pyre that's what I always say! :D

I could have pressurized the authorities, but I have been interrogated and (eventually got my arms amputated for giving 'wrong' answers) by some other branch of rival Inquisition, or so it seemed. Moreover, I got cracked and have leaked some vital info, which caused problems to my immediate Inquisitor (who calls himself Klaus). I'm only too lucky not to have my head amputated, or worse. In other words, I doubt they'll bother to overhaul me at the expense of the Imperium.

On the bright side, I've almost agreed to borrow some money from my fellow Acolyte (Noble). Next step would be to start searching for at least one bionic arm (of Scarce availability, which gives a +0 modifier in >10,000 population environment, and implies one hour of Inquiry). Afterwards, when I have some more time, I could have it installed, and then start thinking on what to replace my second arm with.

And all this might only happen if I somehow survive the mission we are currently on.

But even all this is nothing compared to my basic needs. The day without my arms has started to pass, and I think I will have to find some service in the hive, dedicated to the disabled persons. I want to get fed, washed... hate to say it - wiped, :) undressed to sleep and dressed back again... Dammit, a whole crapload of problems (apologies for my French)!

Are there any Alms Houses on the 3rd/4th levels of a hive (other than those mentioned in the Edge of Darkness)?
