Multiplayer?

By IvoryTower, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

I've seen on the box 2-4 players and in looking through the cards it seems there are statements of: "all players...<blah blah blah>", but I can't seem to find anything that actually states how to work a 3 or 4 player game. For the most part all the rules seem to talk about just 2 players. Now that I've brought home a copy I've like to make sure I can get some other friends sucked into it and we like playing games that are multiplayer. Any thoughts?

Well, it, like all multiplayer games without a strict fighting order (who gets what for killing who) suffer from the same faults. In Vampire the Eternal Struggle, the person to the right of a player that dies was rewarded all the points and rewards for killing the player to the left, whether he killed him or not.

As long as there are certain amounts of credit one could apply in a similar manner in this game, things will be fine.

I played a demo game of this multiplayer, and it was going ok, until I got distracted from my friend with UDE who stopped by on the last day or the show at the last hour to say hey.

I'm envisioning that this is very much possible to be multiplayer, though the rules do not specifically state as such.

Yeah that's all...

Yeah I saw some really odd MP rules for the Cthulu LCG, but I can understand how a typical MP round robin would work. But with there being two overall sides and probably two people per side. But I'm wondering what happens if you're playing Orcs on Orcs or Empire on Empire... or "can" you. Is this game more meant to be Order Vs. Destruction? I guess we'll find out in all due time...

So far this Order vs Destruction issue only pertains to deckbuilding not player matchup. I do not think it would be any different in a possible multiplayer situation.

So you figure just play four players and everyone else is your enemy? or just the people playing opposite of your faction? Like take for instance the factions that come in the box; Dwarves (Order), Empire (Order), Orcs (Destro), and Chaos (Destro). Would it be best to play teams? Order vs Destro. Every man for themselves? It just really feels like if 3 people decide to go after one person they're definitely going to be out of the game before they have a chance to respond to the dogpile.

Of course that sort of problem plague a lot of multiplayer games out there. A Game of Thrones LCG has its solution to gang ups through its two multiplayer variants (found within the Core Set and the Kings of the Sea expansion). There are currently no such rules that prevent or discourage gang ups in Warhammer LCG and if you were to play a multiplayer game it's every race for itself regardless of Order/Destruction designation. I'll bet money, however, that a solution in the same vein will be packaged together soon. Maybe the upcoming elf expansion will hold a nice little surprise in store for us.

I'm hoping that something like plot cards from AGoT with initiative values and every player acting in the same phase would be put into place. Since the Kingdom location already outputs at least 3 power round after round the plot card can have positive or even negative values to resources. Instead of claim it can have additional powers that can be assigned to any one zone. The effects on these "plot cards" can reinforce the RTS flavour and allow something like a search function for more "warriors" or "mage" units akin to the ones already in play. The possibilities are nearly endless.

What I care most about here is..."Now that I've brought home a copy"...

PLEASE POST PICS!!!! thank you very much.

VTES and AGoT are pretty much the only good multiplayer TCGs I've experienced... VTES more so sucessfully as many of its cards are interactive and the partial victory conditions permit for such.

I'm envisioning some sort of killing order in WAR:IN LCG is possible to implement, though if not included in card design soon (say three sets from now), might be a bit tough... but I'm not Eric Lang, and if he worked his vodoo on it, we'd be cooking! :)

Well I saw that Hastur posted a complete Excel spreadsheet listing of the core cards in one of the posts here ( http://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/46095 ) and I'm sorry to say that I don't quite feel right about postin' pics to a game like this that mostly is the pictures. I know this game sold out quickly at GenCon like in about 24 hours or so, they even held off on selling it until 4 on Friday afternoon. But it'll be released soon the picts on the site and the descriptions might just have to tide you over until you can get a set. Soon soon! and then there will be glorious whompin' and stompin'!

Began selling at 4pm thursday. Sold out at 4:15 friday (they may have not allowed sales of it again the second day until 4 or something... IDK)

I picked up by 3rd set Saturday morning but it did sell out early that day.

For multiplayer - I was thinking of trying a similiar format to LotR. So I would be able to attack the person to my left and have to defend from the person to my right. It would be a little on the simple side - since I would not have to manage my twilight pool but it might work. (Have to try it first!)

Odd.. the must have held some back on me / us for the several day haul... *shakes fist* I'D OF BOUGHT ANOTHER!!! CURSES!@!!!
