i was reading the corebook because something cross my mind when watching a episode of babylone 5 the one with g kar taken a drug that made him a psy for a moment. no i won't speack about the game equivalent but of the second think i thought while watching it the hallucinogen may it be a grenade or something else. i think there is plenty of oppotunities for good roleplaying party when you don't write a scenario or don't have one already but have a knack for improvisations. instead of saying you are uncontralable for some rounds why not describes the scene as real. like after a few moments you feel better but something wrong you are not in a hive anymore you are on garden world maybe you ve been kinadpped while unde the effect of the drug? and then let s the improvisaton fly. just react to what they say.

i use this trick from time to time as breack in my ancient campaign of ravenloft be it in master/ player duo game or something that affect the whole groupe. after the party you can start again from the point when the hallucinogen effect begun saying when you recovert your senses just a few moment has spent. because it is a real acting from the players i always reward theme with xp and sometimes link to to what they are investigating after all the will of the emperor is mysterious. and is good solution to guide players who are completly lost despite their efforts. granted sometimes players ( which are also) can be dumb sometimes it s us who are too enigmatic.

i would like your thoughts on this.

Fully improvisational adventures (if you mean that) don't appeal to my taste, at least the games set in W/W40k. On the other hand, this idea is by no means flawed, and widely used in various other RPGs.

I rather like this idea. The idea that the hallucinations aren't just 'medical' hallucinations, but more akin to Lovecraftian-styled dreamscape adventures is quite endearing. (If you've got access to Liber Chaotica, this is a very appealing thing too, especially if some players don't show up and all you're left with are psykers...)

Though I'm not a fan of largely free-form and improv'd games (most folks aren't up to the challange, or at least do better when quickly creating a scenario before hand than actually making it up on the spot), I do think having a good stock of ideas, NPCs, plans, arcs and descriptions/encounters written up for 'dreamscape' hallucinations would be quite endearing. And, as you say, this is both RP and fiction, so the likes of the adventures as seen in other fictions (the events of that episode of B5 being an utterly tremendous development point for the character of G'kar...!) can be of great inspiration.

As mentioned, I don't think improv is a necessary component of it, but being prepared for hallucinations, accidental warp exposure or other mind-altering stuff is really **** cool! (Certainly a Warpy side-effect could easily induce such an adventure!)

chaos mushrooms!!! no imagine that! though the halucengen granades produce some amuzing affects im hping to get the chance to use them on my players!!
