Im receiving a Gladiator tomorrow and whilst a lot of people have been talking about the Victory SD, I was wondering what I should be looking at to go with my Gladiator. Id like to field 2 eventually and was wondering what crew etc I should be looking at using.

What does that Engine Tech card actually mean? I take it that you spend a Navigate token, but does this now mean you have the full manoeuvrability of a Speed 1 action including turns?

I dont know if this means you

- do a full movement at speed one

- OR do a full movement at your current speed minus one.

Also im not sure about the "cost:". Does that mean that when you use this card you replace the effect that you would normaly resolve when you resolve a navigation command dial or token ?

It says execute a speed 1 maneuver. Where do you find your ship's speed 1 maneuvers? On the maneuver grid, the far left column. That's what I think it means until we get clarification.

I was wondering why he only bought the Gladiator and then I realized that with Australian pricing it's probably more than an American core set..

Anyway, I think the other Gladiator title (Can fire once after your maneuver) will prove more popular, as it'll be easier to set up uses for it.

Costs below:

The card doesn't say a +1 Speed though, just that you complete a Speed 1 maneuver, so it wouldn't go to speed 4, especially if the ship couldn't go that fast. So could a SD move at speed 2 taking a turn at the end of it, the card then kicks in and the ship moves 1 and then has the option of another turn as its allowed to do so according to the ships card.

A VSD doesn't have the appropriate upgrade slot to use Engine Techs, so it isn't valid at the moment.

A GSD does and can do the following:

Spend a Navigate Command and/or Token for any of the available uses, make a normal movement at it's current speed, then make an additional movement using speed 1 on their movement chart.

So a GSD can effectively move speed 4, but even more maneuverable.

Im receiving my Death Star tomorrow and whilst a lot of people have been talking about the Victory SD, I was wondering what I should be looking at to go with my Death Star. Id like to field 2 eventually and was wondering what crew etc I should be looking at using at the 18 possible slots.

Take Tarkin as your Commander and put him on the Death Star. You fleet ships might have to worry about the Rebel fleet, but the DS1 doesn't. Any direct attack by your opponents vessels would be a useless guesture, no matter what plans they may have.

With your great size, you can get around your lack of close defence and surely you'd have nothing to worry about with regards to snub-fighters. Just remember not to block any exhaust ports when you want to fire the Superlaser, maybe keep Vader and a couple of TIE squadrons around just in case, and you should be golden.

If you're taking a DS2, put the Emperor on it, his ability let you control the Objective Cards and hide upgrade cards allows you to force a fleet ambush which you can use to great effect. Keep your opponent guessing as to which Superlaser you've taken, the anti-planet Mk1 or the Anti-Starship as Well Mark 2.

Force them into range with a ring of ISD's with Piett as your Commander (If you have an Executor, you might as well use it.) pin their fighters in place with your own, and then have the DS2 go to town on them.

They could I suppose close with the Star Destroyers and take their chances that way, but unless they somehow manage to remove your Forest Moon Shield it shouldn't make any difference in the long term.

...and now I actually kind of want an Emperor Palpatine Officer or Commander card that allows me to either remove an Objective card from my fan, and/or allows me to field a ship with the Upgrades hidden.

By the sounds of it guys this was an honest mistake and not him trolling the forums so perhaps the picking on the OP can stop now. The store he ordered from sent him the email but as someone else pointed out he got the same email and it is just the core set that is actually being shipped to him despite the fact he ordered both at the same time.
