The View at Worlds

By Shaneth, in UFS General Discussion

23 Teams I believe in Team Worlds.

Top 4:
Matt Kohls ( Zi Mei ) | Jon Herr ( Victor ) | Paul Bittner ( Gill )
Shaneth ( Bishamon ) | Chubbs ( Zi Mei ) | Ted Bundy ( Hilde )
Osei Tyson ( Sagat ) | Magnus Carrena ( J. Talbain ) | Noel Brown ( James Hata )
Matt Hewitt ( Zhao Daiyu ) | Speedsta ( ??? ) | Viewtiful_Joe ( Donovan )

Not sure who Speedsta played as. Everybody except for UFS House had at least 1 incorrect decklist and was given a game loss and had to fix their decks. They were Shaneth, Magnus, and two UK guys who I can't remember which. I got carried away writing 3's on my sheet and accidently wrote down 3x Ruler of the Shadows when I only packed 2. Magnus had Torn Hero's in his deck but didn't write them down at all, so he had to take them out of his deck for top cuts. All 4 of us should have been disqualified but a game loss is better I guess.

UFS House beat New York in finals for their second asset in a row.

85 people for Worlds.

Top 8:
Paul Bittner - Zi Mei (undefeated swiss champ)
Andrew Olexa - Andrew Olexa
Viewtiful_Joe - Donovan
Garret Brett - J. Talbain
Antigoth - Sagat
Fred Erhart - Akuma
Jeremy Ray - Sakura
Danny Fung - Hilde

Top 4
Paul Bittner - Zi Mei
Andrew Olexa - Andrew Olexa
Viewtiful_Joe - Donovan
Garrett Brett - J. Talbain

Finals:
Paul Bittner - Zi Mei
Viewtiful_Joe - Donovan

Paul Bittner is the 2009 World Champion.

Crazy moments:
Top 4 - Paul Bittner vs Garret Brett
Garrett uses Collecting Data to put all 4x Fury of the Ancients, Paul's only attacks, into Paul's momentum. Paul had no way to discard momentum.

Finals - Paul Bittner vs Viewtiful_Joe
Viewfiful_Joe has 1 card in hand. Paul Bittner uses Saikyo-ryu. Viewtiful_Joe reveals a Warrior's Path. Everybody's jaw drops.

Chubbs takes off his shirt, trips Magnus on the ground, and does about 50 push ups over him. The whole place busts into laughter as A LOT of people from the UFS and Naruto tables get out their phones and take videos. Meanwhile, some chick calls for security. We bust ass out of the TCG hall. As we are leaving, we see security hastily walk past us.

In the dealer hall, a security guy walks past us. Chubbs says "I LIKE THAT GUY'S COSTUME!!!!" And the security guard turns around and smiles :)

Somebody pulled the fire alarm, causing everybody in the con to evacuate. Now THAT was booty poppin...

It was a pretty fun experience. Not the most fun I've had, but I enjoyed it. It was money and effort well spent.

I'm outty. I'm soooooooooo exhausted. DAAAAKNESS!!!!!!!

HMM so mill did not win? I thought it was amazing. How many mill decks even mad the top 8?

Crazy Moment:

Steve announcing rotation hits at the end of the month and Scubadude scampering to the CoolStuff booth and telling them so we can't unload our soon-to-be-useless cards, effectively earning him the 'Douchebag of the Decade' Award.

*thumbs up soldier!*

Scuba = Douchebag of the Decade award. hahahahahahahahaha

Well, they haven't completely obliterated their buylist of block 3 stuff. They just halved the prices >_>

They still bought Hoyoku-Sens for $8 a piece.

Chubbs and I sold 12 copies, effectively making $96.

Apparently Scuba also told them about Higher Caliber last year, which stopped Chubbs and I from making another $32 last year.

He's probably the "CoolStuff Spy" everyone has been speculating about.

Doesn't make that kind of asshattery any less dumb.

You could call Jeremy Ray's Sakura a "mill" deck. It was a very slow mill, utilizing Abelia's Friendship and Street Baller.

But they did not cut what they are charging - Aquakinesis is still five bucks and Defender is twenty-five.

Im sure they will cut the prices. They've been @ GenCon for the past 4-5 days, i'd say within the next day or 2 they'll have everything updated to be in line with the new purchase prices.

o___o

Question #1: Did it really win like that? ie how many games?

Question #2: I had to look up Baller, and doesn't it say a player "may" put their hand on bottom and draw up? Or was it something else?

Also, re:CSI, I think they change their prices based on how much of an item is selling -- if they get bought out of something, when it's restocked it'll be a bit more; if something has been on the shelf for 3 weeks, it'll go down. Or so I've noticed in the past, at least I think that's what has happened >__>

lol scuba a douchebag? naaaaaw, i dont believe it....not for a second,

/sarcasm off

and people wonder why our local playgroup is gone...

DOUBLE collecting data... The first one just baited the skull. Then I thought, what the hell, his reaction to #1 meant I'd hit at least 3... So I tried the second on a 10. Hit my Dark Force (lol) and commited out (2 left over) to pass it. Bye bye all 4 attacks!!!

This was the craziest moment of my UFS life, and I'm super happy I could share it with the class act that is Paul Bittner.

Hope everyone reads my FULL report with deck analysis (my own deck), game details, AND a full retell of the events of (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday day (there was no Saturday night for me...))

Read it!

I won 2 rounds with The Infinte Slow Mill(Street Baller + Abelia's/Blood Run's True), in those matches I also used Antisocial when I could, the only reason I would resort to that method is if my opponent was destroying their own board or not playing their own board.

Most Games I won with Heel Snipe+(multiple)Action Side Flying Power Bomb. That was my big clutch trick so to speak.

And while, it may seem like I would of had a million 0-0 draws or something, All of my games were either 2-0, 1-0 or 1-1 in swiss, no 0-0 draws at all.

He uses Abelia's/BRT to make the opponent and himself draw. Then when it comes back to his turn, he uses Street Baller to put the 10 cards from his hand on the bottom of his deck and draws 6. So basically, the opponent is drawing tons of cards and you aren't drawing anything.
