During the InFlight video that's posted on the front page they mentioned 2 new epic sized games and another standard size. Any guesses?
I imagine the big ones are Reins of Power and Gears of War.
Dune-ish being the standard size.

I want to know what is in the mystery boxes announced at Gen-con too. My guess is one of the epic boxes is a Napoleon game and the other big box is Gears of War. My guess on the normal sized is an adventure game similar to Runebound. What are your guesses?
My guess is similar to sepayne7|'s. I would only switch sizes. Reins of Power and TI-Dune in an epic box, GoW in medium one.
But just for sport, I'll throw another guess: Battlemist 2nd ed. - Epic size.
And that's assuming expansions don't count. Otherwise I'll go with CE expansion for the mid-size.
My guess (hope) is that one of them is the Ice and Fire adventure game that was tested at the last GenCon.
I hope that you are right that GOW is in the medium box. I don't have any more room on my shelf for an epic box and I am pretty interested in the GOW game.

My guess for mid box is the next expanion for WOW the board game as there was a pic in the 2009 booklet in my kingsburg box.
As for the big box sets
wish list would be...........
Battle mist 2nd ed.
new box set for battle lore
Really long shot. Descent 2nd ed. with all the fix's
Why not an Descent Ultimate Editon, with all expansions in it and an useful plastic inlay in an epci-epic size box?
As for the big boxes, I would vote for Gears of War and possibly Reins of Power, though that latter one has been cooking so long, it may have evaporated (though I was told that it was a personal favorite project of Christian). For the smaller box, I think it's the "Un-Dune" Dune game purchased by FFG last year when they got Cosmic Encounters. Or even better, it might be Borders, a most excellent game purchased at the same time (though as I recall that one wasn't scheduled to be redone until later in 2010 or in 2011).
I'm hoping for 'The Eagle and the Lion - Battles of Napoleon' series - makes sense given previous Nexus games publications.
Saving pennies now!
For FFG games, you need to save more than just pennies!
I visit my loan officer everytime I buy one....
That would be cool, but I doubt that would ever happen. All those expansions likely bring in a lot of dough. Dare to dream though.

Fingers crossed for a reinvention/new edition of Thunder's Edge if the whole Dune thing didn't work out. After all, you can still retain a lot of ideas that designers may have had and apply them to Thunder's Edge which is also a backwater planet filled with vying factions mixing military might with political intrigue. That and enough time has passed for TI: 3rd edition to settle down so that Thunder's Edge (The Precursor Hex Game to TI) wouldn't cut into or compete with its market.
Considering it was one of their original 3 Hex games released (BatteMist & TI being the other two) way back in 1999, there's nothing quite like a 10 year anniversary edition/remaking of one of your founding games that allowed FFG to become what it is.
If one of them is Gears of War... I'll buy it.

I think that would be Borderlands. I'm looking forward to that one, too.
While not exactly the same, Borderlands and Reins of Power have some things in common (mainly the theme).
I would be surprised if these will be two of the three games.
Would Planet Steam be one? Or was that 'announced' prior to 'announcing' the boxed releases for later this year?
I personally would love a big Fantasy themed empire building game, repleat with races, magic, technology trees (perhaps 'magic tech' trees as well, with tech and magical development influenced by race) and so forth - that would be awesome!
I would also love to see some form of battles/war game with mechs, tanks, robots and so forth - a low number of units in tactical battle.
Cheers,
Giles.
No, planet steam is not one of the three games. "433" said it on another forum.
Battlemist 2nd edition seems to fit your request for a fantasy games, if they ever decide to make it.

Battlemist looks interesting - if it was one of the big boxes that would indeed be cool!
Perhaps one of the square boxes is an expansion for Android...?
I can't help but think at least one of them will be a Warhammer/40K tie in of some sort.
Whichever way it falls I have been really impressed with FFGs output lately - great job all around I say!
Cheers,
Gils.
I think the new big box games are stand-alone works and not expansions to what already exists.

Battlemist 2e has got my vote!!! If it doesn't come out in 2009/2010, I would expect that Christian is gathering ideas to make the Second edition the ultimate one (as he did with Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition). Just hope he doesn't keep the questing and focuses mainly on army combat.
And to add: did anyone have Diablo in mind for the next big FFG thing?
Through the Mists of Battle
YEEEEAHH!!! I guessed it!!! :-)
Yes, Floating World, you were right great call. I never heard of Battle Mist before so it was a surprise to me. Nice that Cory K. is making it. He and Kevin Wilson are pretty much rock stars in my eyes.
The game looks great- flippin 3D mountain tiles-and my usual gaming partner has already e-mailed in frenzy about it.

you are technically right one of them is runewars, a new game similiar to battle mist. it is on the site now
Still, two left... Reins of power and the new addition to WoW: the boardgame?
I secretly hope for a new addition to Twilight Imperium but that's wishful thinking.
