I know we are moving into block 4 and i support that but does anyone think that there should be some exceptions? Im talking about warriors dream and flames of fame. We have only had those sets for i think about three months and now they are useless. To me it seems like people who invested in those sets (me included) have now thrown our money away. Anyone agree with my thoughts?
the block 4 rotation, should there be some exceptions?
We've actually had the sets since December 08, but I wouldn't mind them sticking around a little longer.
i personally think Cutting Edge, Domination, DS1 and Fight for the Future since they've been around the longest should rotate first and leave the rest for a couple months, then rotate each in order up thru January, but what do i know, i'm still gonna run only legacy at my league.
N.J.
Eh, Steve and James didn't like where the game was at. Most of the people who were at worlds didnt like where the game was at. The game was very un-fun. No offense to anyone, but decks only running 4 attacks and winning matches in ridiculous. It shows the game is in a terrible spot when playing one attack in your deck and hiding behind 30 foundations on the field is the way to win.
Point being, everything rotating out at once will solve a lot of the problems in the game and make it more fun in general.
Every character.
Arbitrarily deciding to remove all characters from nearly half the licenses in the game is stupid and will do nothing but lose fans.
Would it have mattered that the characters were legal for the next 5 months where no tournaments happen that matter? No nationals/regionals/worlds or anything else. Like it has been said many times on many threads already, if you wan't to play these cards talk to your scout and play block 3 tournaments. No one is preventing that, it's still entirely possible to do. For the people who think the mini-block (or new block w/e) format is best then they can play that.
For our store, we'll definitely be playing current block (Block 4) from now on.
we in austin,tx play where you can choose any nonbanned character during any event legacy or standard so it doenst matter too us too much. we also rotate between legacy and standard every other month
Well then you're a retarded lapdog for FFG.
When someone does something that is stupid, you don't just sit there obediantly and go 'Hey! That's great! Let me give you money to abuse me." Miniblock is a garbage format that was introduced for new players so they could get a handle on the game without having to deal with cards that came out before they started. Somehow I managed to start right at the beginning of B2, and fit in just fine... even enjoyed the number of cards I had to pick from, and the number of characters and license represented in the game. Miniblock is great for new players, but shouldn't be the status-quo for tournaments... as tournaments shoudl favor experienced players... not new ones.
Yay for NFS (Namco FIghting System)
Even if playing old character cards were an option... nothign synergizes with them anymore. FFG has made it perfectly clear that they only want people playing new characters. Hence all the character and symbol only effects. Universal fighting system. Universal implies that all things should be incorporated, not just Namco, and certainly not just 27 characters. Even if you can play the others they are simply not close to viable in miniblock.
Thanks for going straight to the insults man.
Anyways, the rotation had nothing to do with new comers getting into the game. The game was very stale and un-fun the way it was. When the company dislikes the game, that should say something to you.
It figures though. I mean, i guess now that FFG is fixing the game people have to find SOMETHING to come to the forums and complain about.

What they did wasn't stupid, just abrupt. It's better for this game to start as fresh as possible anyways. With the cards that are legal before this rotation, UFS has turned into the most boring card game I've played. Playing "miniblock" reminds me of the good ole days of UFS, and I do believe it's a good step in the right directions. Maybe if you weren't so hurt over your characters not being in you'd understand. Hell, the characters I want to play aren't even going to be in. I'm not whining, I can see what potentially is better for the game. Think on a broader aspect and not just about yourself.
Yes, like being forced to play a licensed game that I never would've spent ridiculous amounts of money on with the licenses it currently has? Basically FFG just robbed me of every card I own save for the stuff that might as well be kindling to me that I was using in decks for characters I actually give a flying F*** about.
B3 was fine. I played in an extremely competitive meta and somehow everyone there managed to find a way to get around the big 'problem cards' even before the frivelous bannings that rendered whole symbols completely unplayable (All much?). I think there was no reason to cry about things the way they were. Answers were being printed and while a few erratas were probably needed the game was FINE. People were simply too uncreative, lazy or unskilled to find ways to play around powerful cards, and so FFG decided to embrace their apathy towards being any good at their hobby, by banning everything.
If the game was called Tekken vs. Soul Calibur I NEVER would have bought it and I'm furious that my money was basically stolen from me, as was the money of everyone else in both my playgroups which have now disbanded over a series of horrible decisions.

Rotations happen. Deal with it. You obviously don't understand this.

Play legacy. Problem solved. I have absolutely no fun playing in what was standard but all the cards in standard put into legacy are just now average or above average. This was a great idea.
You do realize that even if rotation happened in February like normal, that 2xTekken, 1xSoulCal and 1xShadoWar would still be the only legal stuff right? Plus the base set obviously, which will prob be Tekken/SF/SW(pure speculation). So it seems like you're REALLY mad that FFGs release schedule slowed down and you just think you're mad at rotation. Just sayin'
The things is, all they're really doing is sweeping everything under the rug and hoping that their collective shortsightedness goes forgotten by the masses. Make no mistake, the current staleness of the game is their fault entirly and nobody elses.
It's simple, they messed up when they released utter garbage that was such cards as Battle Prowess, Criminal Past, Chinese Boxing, and whatever other jank they've banned since the second coming came to power.
It's their fault that the game has gone into such a rut. Mr. Hata is supposed to be some UFS guru, yet he couldn't forsee releasing some of these cards that would be game disrupting and dreaded NPE. Didn't he see that Seung Mina and Ira Spinta would be a snorefest? Didn't he see Bishatank would be solitare? And if they were printed before he showed up, then why would he even let them be released in the first place? Why not create new ones?
And honestly, can all of the fans of this decision really tell me with a straight face that this had been planned? I mean really, no notice? No forewarnings? No "hey guys by the way, after the most important event of the year we're going to do arguably the most important thing ever in the history of the game?" Seriously?
Legacy would be an acceptable solution... if not for the fact that Steve Horvath said in the SAME INTERVIEW that he will not be supporting legacy at all. Not to mention Legacy is a boring cesspool of the same old infinite loops and unescapeable second turn kill conditions.
Last block's rotation had all properties supported within 3-6 months. I don't recall. This is waiting a year to return to the properties I want to see in the game. If not more, and probably more time still before I see the characters I want from those properties. How is that fair to me as a fan when I bought into the game for a STREET FIGHTER CCG?
Not trying to be a jerk but, life isn't fair man, get used to it. If the game was called Street Fighter CCG you would definitely have something to complain about. Unfortunately, the economy sucks which sucks for everyone, including FFG. Bad economy = less sets. Less sets = less licenses released. Less releases = sad pandas (see what i did there.) Being the game that it is, they will eventually have Street Figher and Darkstalkers and SNK back in the mix, but if you want the game to get back to a point where that stuff can actually come out you definitely have to support it when your favorite character or license isn't being supported very heavily.

I guess I just view the game differently...I play this game for FUN so it doesn't matter if it doesn't get supported as much. I would still like my face on a card but I know that's not going to happen. (It would be cool to finally see a female champion though...)
Legacy is not unescapable second turn kills, it does happen but it can be stopped. If I can survive 3 kasumi suzakus and eat only 3 damage, so can you. Legacy is much better because you can't pack an answer to everything...standard was stale because it was so **** predictable. Your opponent's Seong-Mina, you can expect Spinta getting looped...~_~

B-rad, Hata wasn't designing those sets.
Drunken, what is so hard about just running block 3 tournaments? I don't get this. By the time a major tournament rolls around, more sets will be out. local tournaments are up to the scout's decision.
As someone there in person and talking to Steve and Hata, they truly care about this game, and this is honestly one of the best decisions they've done; the game is playable again. If you liked it how it was before, then just...don't play it in this format?

Crap I didn't think of it like that. The game eventually was going to cycle out only to support those lisences in organized play.
I have to agree while this decision was abrupt and unexpected it is the best thing for this game to get out of this snore fest that it is now
