LeeBacca is it playable in this meta?

By PoorEvader2Soon, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I think, unfortunately, double HLC IG88 is a bad match up. That said, most builds are pretty fortunate pairings against the YTs.

Chewie; ptl gunner title 51

Leebo; HLC title Jan Ors determination 49

100

The two big turrets have a lot of good moves vs IGs and fire sprays. Relatively naked dice is the sorta penalty of the squad. Mangler cannons are fairly wasted against the squad.

I don't see the point of PTL on Chewie with just the title. Not enough green on his dial, and he doesn't really care about action economy. Jan also isn't that much of an improvement over just taking a focus on the Outrider, compared to a recon specialist.

Hmm... Perhaps you might try

Chewie- Predator, Millenium Falcon, Engine Upgrade -50

Leebo- Heavy Laser Cannon, Outrider, Determination, Engine Upgrade, Intelligence Agent -50

You don't lose much in offense, give Chewie the ability to arc dodge and help Leebo with that, and intelligence agent works really well with the Outrider (Barrel roll+Large base is great for blocking, and knowing where Fel or Whisper is going lets you keep them out of the donut hole).

The idea was to double dip on evades for chewie. I love the movement actions and intelligence agent idea.

Maybe this:

Chewbacca (Determination, Recon Spec, Gunner) 51

Leebo (Determination, Jan, HLC, Outrider) 49

100 points

That Leebo is 52 points.

I like the idea of double YT builds. How about:

Han Solo: lando, gunner, veteran instincts

Wild Space Fringer: HLC, outrider, recon specialist

Four red and two green dice means the YT 2400 can make good use of a double focus. I think lando is built for the falcon, there's a 40 percent chance of getting a double action and falcon could really benefit from extra evade tokens.

Falcon can fly behind YT2400 and get close to anyone trying to tail the outrider

At PS 2, the Wild Space Fringer can't do much about the donut hole. If you're going with a WSF, you should use the Mangler cannon instead. The donut hole is still there (Your opponent is getting an extra dice and you aren't), but you're better off than you would be with a HLC at least.

leebacca or chewbo are never viable if x-wing is anything resembling a social experience for you
