Wanna see how Rebel Warthogs are supposed to work?

Causing bumps with ion damage, denying actions, and generally making a nuisance of themselves.

I've never seen that many ships stuck in a straight line like that. It was a cluster like that for about three turns. Most importantly, the damage that was dealt here helped make sure I had the win at the end of the game. (Of course, the Hero Bandit doing good work at the end of the game helped, too).

At my last sc I had a traffic jam like that with a cloaked/ioned Whisper in the middle. It was grand.

There are quite a few solid Corran 2Y lists out there. What are you running?

Edited by TasteTheRainbow

The current iteration is as follows:

  • Corran Horn (41) = E-Wing (35) + R2-D2 (4) + Fire-Control System (2)
  • Gold Squadron Pilot (23) = Y-Wing (18) + Ion Cannon Turret (5) + BTL-A4 (0)
  • Gold Squadron Pilot (23) = Y-Wing (18) + Ion Cannon Turret (5) + BTL-A4 (0)
  • Bandit Squadron Pilot (12) = Z-95 Headhunter
  • Total points = 99

The Bandit runs fast as a blocker, hoping to get a couple of bumps on the initial fly-by. The Gold Squadrons come in behind, looking to lay down suppressing fire with ion damage, compounding the bumping issue. Corran brings up the rear, doing Corran things, picking his shots, surviving till the end game to clean up the remainder of the enemy forces.

I like the Stealth Device on that trailing Y-Wing

All that bumping, the ships themselves started running into each other. It was about three more turns before this little kerfuffle sorted itself out.

Why would you run a 99 point list and not put VI on Corran?

Why would you run a 99 point list and not put VI on Corran?

Good question, and it has a pretty simple answer. The 1.0 version of this build wasn't running FCS, but Lone Wolf. Corran was used as a solo flanker, instead of a support sniper with the rest of the squad. Didn't really fit my play style, so with some suggestions I dumped Lone Wolf for FCS.

So, the initial version of the list didn't have VI in it, because Lone Wolf was taking that slot. Now that I've swapped that out, I'll most likely add VI to the mix.

I really like the look of this build. Imma steal it!

Yeah, why no VI?

I got beastly output from a Warthog Horton in an Epic match over the weekend. I haven't tried to make this particular build work in a 100-point squad, but when supported by free Focus tokens from Kyle Katarn/Moldy Crow, free Target Locks from Dutch Vander, and a free action from a nearby GR-75, this Horton dealt massive damage to a swarm of IG-2000s and StarVipers:

* Horton Salm (25)

* R2-D6 (1)

Expose (4)

Blaster Turret (4)

Shield Upgrade (4)

BTL-A4 Title (0)

At range 1, that's a 4-dice primary attack followed by 3-dice blaster.

I think I got lucky in that my opponent did not focus fire on Horton, thinking other ships were going to be a greater threat.

In case this list is still in need of a name, I suggest "Horny Warthogs" :D

Done and done! I'll be sure to pass any residual earnings from this list name on to you.

Oh goodness. PErfect.

What about Determination instead of VI?

I know the Bandit is doing work for you, but you really need R3-A2 on one of those Golds in your life. Stacking more stress on himself than Tycho can ever hope to is one of the most beautiful sights in the game. My personal best is 14 self-inflicted stress.

Wave 3 had a very strong furball meta with B-wings as they run into everything causing a traffic jam still taking actions with adv sensors and stopping everyone else by blocking while blasting through everything till they need to do a 2K and flip around and go back in the fray.

Unfortunately, I don't own a transport, so I don't have access to all those fun droids.

What about Determination instead of VI?

I feel like with the E-Wings only having two hull, Determination would likely not be very useful. Moving at PS 10 will likely be more useful with what I feel like will be a meta soon to be dominated by PS 9 Imperials, like Soontir, Vader, and VI Whisper.

I have had great success with a similar list:

Corran Horn (35)
Push the Limit (3)
Fire-Control System (2)
R2-D2 (4)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Gold Squadron Pilot (18)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Bomb Loadout (0)
R2 Astromech (1)
Seismic Charges (2)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)
Gold Squadron Pilot (18)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Bomb Loadout (0)
R2 Astromech (1)
Seismic Charges (2)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)
Total: 100
The Ion helps with knowing where the enemy ships are going to be so you can drop the bombs for a sure-thing

i watched this game happen. it was a mess, but i believe in the power of those golds.

Once I get the hang of those Y-Wing dials, I'll stop crashing them into each other.

Good point. Having only run the E-Wing twice, I tend to forget it only has the 2...

Yeah, I haven't figured out if I am keeping the Bandit yet, but if he does go, it will be for Shield Upgrades on the Y-Wings and a Hull Upgrade for Corran.

Tthe shield upgrades to the Y's could be good, but if you wanna use four points for a one use item on a y-wing, try out proton torpedoes. You could nail them with the proton, and finish with the BTL ion shot. May not work all the time, but it makes those y wings scarier at range 2.

It doesn't work ever. The BTL-A4 Title card explicitly says the first attack must be with your primary weapon.

But for a second there, you had me going. I was really excited to try that out!
