Apologies for the cringeworthy title, just felt the need to share this disaster with someone (besides my gloating opponent). I was playing a 180 point game as rebels with a Nebulon B Escort and a CR90B against my opponent's fully loaded Victory I. We drew the Opening Salvo objective, which awards points at the end based on damage done to still alive ships and allows for an augmented first attack.
I figured I'd come around the back/side of the vic with my corvette while bringing my neb around on the opposite side to catch her between the two and do some damage. At the end of round two, when I had everything in place, my opponent took my Corvette from the side with a lucky roll and scored two damage, one of them face up. The crit that came up was Crew Panic, which has you either take a damage or discard your command dial when it's revealed.
So, figuring that I could get some good damage in and then speed away (the corvette was at speed 3), I activated it at the start of round 3 and scored a beautiful critical hit (the vic could not make long range attacks). Only then did I realize my mistake. My neb was exactly in the path of my corvette, and there was no maneuver that I could pull off whatsoever that wouldn't end with me overlapping it. Had to reduce my speed to 2, take a damage on both ships, and left my corvette directly in the forward firing arc of the Victory-I at close range with no shields on the closest face. The crew panic, it turns out, was completely justified. The corvette was obliterated.
She ended up beating me 94 points to 37.
