Hornblower unit + cavalry

By player375587, in Battlelore

What happens if you attack a cavalry unit with a hornblower embedded foot unit and a cavalry unit? Is your first bonus strike ignored because you attack a cavalry unit or not?

Yes, in this instance the first bonus strike will still be ignored. When using the horn, the unit with the hornblower embedded is considered the attacking unit and its traits are the ones that apply to the battle roll. The second unit just adds dice to the first unit's roll.

Thanks very much for your quick answer. I'm afraid my friend lost his entire lizard riders unit due to a wrong decision. One figure should have stayed alive it seems.

Eh, live and learn ;) I always roll a die in situations like those, where there is an unresolved question within the game on which a quick look into the rules comes up empty and let chance be the temporary judge. Then go on forums, etc. and await the true ruling.

Another question:

If the called/support unit is a blue INF, and this one moved 2 hex to be adjacent to to the hornblower-unit and the target.

Can they still add their dice to the hornblower-unit or not, because they moved 2 hex and cant battle itself.

Of logic, i would say, they cant, but the text on the rulecard is not clear.

In all the C&C games (you should know this B ;) ), for an existing rule to be superceded it must be explicitly contradicted by another rule. Since the Hornblower rules do not explicitly state that any other unit's movement or dice numbers will be affected, they are not. A blue foot unit would not be able to move 2 hexes and battle unless a card play or some other game mechanism allowed it.

Man, for not being all that appreciative of rules lawyering, I am pretty adept at it ;)
