Wasn't it mention by John Goodenough that the next expansion was suppose to be toaderific?

I wonder where the "toad lord" fits into Frostmarch?

That was somewhere in an old post....

Cheers

If this set includes the upcoming modified fate rules it will be possible to alter your opponents' dice. That would make for a lot more toads!

This rule will also increase player interaction significantly. Way to go FFG!

Yeah indeed, but maybe that this also means that you don't want to visit the enchantress anymore as long as your opponent has dark fate..

If you are not the biggest threat (and your opponents play well) you are likely not the target of their dark fate (unless that player stands to loot your dropped goodies).

If you mean that that dark fate will result in enchantress evasion rather than more toads, I think we'll see both. Yes the enchantress will be less frequented, but we'll still see more toads from other non voluntary sources.

Anyway, an average of one or two toads a game is plenty for me. Toads are cool, but the tend to result in huge random shifts of power.

The problem is, that you only go to the enchantress at the beginning of the game, so that you can't lose a strength or craft.

But if the opponent begins with dark fate(we don't know how it will work yet..) then you don;t go to the enchantress because you change into a toad maybe...

And later in the game, you don;t go to the enchantress anymore because the risk is high that you lose a strength or craft or toad transforming, even if the opponent has no dark fate left..

So i wonder how this will turn out when we get the rules for light and dark fate...

Which read that it might be conviniently push right before christmassorpresa.gif

No city, mountain or whatever board expansion until who knows when.....

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we do get Frostmarch but I was expecting something much bigger before the end of the year.

Cheers anyway....

Early in the game if don't have a lot of stuff your opponent probably won't waste a dark fate to turn you into a toad - particularly in a multi player game. The worst part about being a toad is dropping your stuff, so if you have none they might be advised to sit on their fate.. Your opponent also won't want you to turn into a toad if you have a lot of stuff but they are far away while other opponents are nearby. Of course some opponents don't play well, so be careful.

If your opponents don't have dark fate, you can usually risk the enchantress as long as you have light fate - even if you have extra strength or craft. We play with the optional speed rule wherein everybody starts with an extra strength or craft.

Later in the game conservative play is not always smart. If you are behind, take risks to get bigger fast, otherwise you'll just lose anyway.

I agree we need to see the rules for light and dark fate. I wonder how they interact.

Cheers!

But if i can change someone in a toad for 3 turns and he get's enemies or stuff that he can't beat, then i can go there and grab all the stuff or defeat those enemies.

At least in 2 players then ( with more players, then it's more difficult to get those stuff as you already said)

And there is also a chance that the toad will be killed.. hehe ( then he must begin with a other character) so reasons enough..

I agree that we first must wait until we get the rules, but i am looking forward to it. gran_risa.gif

I think it will look weird if the Ice Queen is standing in the inner realm. What I would have liked, perhaps, would be a whole new inner realm overlay, where it has been consumed in ice and snow, with all new space encounters and the Ice Queens palace in the middle for you to reach. Now THAT would have been something to really look forward to.

Still, I like the idea of having various quests to complete, especially as some of the quests are so simple. Having 4 of them would make up for that slightly.

But if the Inner realm also become a snow place.. then we have too much snow if the mountains are coming too ! ( but at least, it makes more sense, so i agree..

I am still hoping that her castle still exist in the mountains.. ( a castle does not walk away gran_risa.gif

I have read the story of Frostmarch and it's not bad that the Ice Queen wants to take over the crown..

It was one of my wishes to do something special with her, but it's a little weird to see a Ice Queen in a barren wasteland like the Inner Region..

Anyway.. we must accept it, but if the Dragon Tower will show up in the future( i hope so) then i will not use the Ice Queen again i think or other ending cards..

+84 Adventure cards, what are we up to by then 290? Getting halfway through the deck will become unlikely in our games I think. Not saying it's a bad thing, makes those Alchemy/-ist on Wand as Wizard/Prophetess even sweeter as the deck will not get reshuffled, no getting it back demonio.gif .

Finally we get some news about the Frostmarch expansion on the site of FFG ! gran_risa.gif

On top of that, we also get a new piece of artwork !

It looks like a Snow wurm, who can freeze you to death !! demonio.gif

Sigh, less chances for Random spell. Demigod becomes even more powerful, though most often you will probably be tempted by Transference, if for no other reason than to keep from other characters, in case you get the Crown first.

They called it as chillbane, so probably that is its name.

And looks like it will be released near 4th November.

Demigod will also be difficult to draw, now that there will be 84 cards added to the main deck..

It;s just luck if you draw demigod or transference...

But that's what talisman is all aboutgran_risa.gif

And for you, it's the black void rightgui%C3%B1o.gif

Yeah, and Toads. Sadly, both are very lacking sad.gif . To boot, Reaper didn't land on anyone today. But I can live with that, seeing the Sage get PvP'd until he died was just SO sweet.

I personally think toads are a waste of cardboard and plastic. Never saw anyone turned into one with the 3rd edition. 2 games into the 4th, same. I can't even remember anyone being a toad when I had the 2nd edition all those years ago.

I played about 20-30 games with the BI 4th edition, Toad-rate was 1 per game. Random spell or Witch were the causes. Fate totally ruined that ratio. Less than 1 in 10 games now. Heck, the Reaper has killed more people than have been Toaded sorpresa.gif (5 vs 4). Part of the reason for the drop in the ratio is the added number of Spells and Adventure cards, but even without Fate replenish from the board, people save Fate "just in case".

Perhaps you may like to have a house rule (I know you like 'em) where if the result of a die roll is the player turning into a toad, then you turn into a toad before you are able to use a fate counter. In other words, you can't use fate if the result is the toad.

Last time due to Dungeon, it was released exactly two or three months since first announcement. From what I recall, with Reaper was something similar.

Ah, i have seen the name, when i save the picture on my pc..

So that's why you said that name... ( or are you famous with this creature?
