Frostmarch - New expansion for Talisman

By Nemomon, in Talisman

I think Jon New may be the only one to answer that, since it requires that old expansion and a copy of Frostmarch.

I can look at boardgamegeek what the old says, but i want to know what the frostmarch Altar text is saying.

I will speak to him later, but if someone knows it, let me knowgui%C3%B1o.gif

There are already some people here who owns the frostmarch already..sad.gifstill waiting..

Speaking with Jon, the Altar is indeed from the dungeon, and now for the mainboard.

It's almost the same, with only the difference, that heal a life is instead of number 3, now on number 4,

Number 3 has been replaced for : gain 1 fate and number 5 (spell and 6( another turn) has been switched.

Interesting, and makes sense for the new attribute of Fate. But let me get this straight...

On both versions there is the chance of a positive / beneficial effect for 4 out of 6 results? What is the full description text on the card for how the Altar is encountered?

The Altar will remain here for the rest of the game. Roll 1 die to pray with the following results: 1) Miss your next turn 2) Ignored 3) Gain 1 fate 4) Gain 1 life 5) Gain 1 Spell 6) Immediately take another turn

Can somebody who already has a copy of Frostmarch upload the missing alternative ending cards and character card (Necromancer) to the image section of the Fromstamrch page on BoardGameGeek? The other ending cards and character cards are alreay there.

Does someone know if the spell Vortex, is the same card as Mini Vortex for previous editions?

And is Syphon Strength the same as Syphon from precious editions?

I found a new piece of art from the Frostmarch ! gran_risa.gif

His PC cousin, Eastern Dragon is in Frostmarch.

Oke, but if i look to all those artwork on that site, it seems that each art has it's name. The names from all other artwork seems correct,

So.. i wonder if the card is still called chinese Dragon, and that it is maybe a mistake in the card spoiler list...

A bit weird to me, if the artwork is named chinese dragon, but as card.. eastern dragon..sad.gif

EDIT: after speaking with Jon, it seems that the Chinese dragon, is indeed changed to eastern dragon..

After all, no complaints, that name sounds better anywaygui%C3%B1o.gif

"Eastern" Dragon works better. It removes a specific national and cultural reference and uses something more generic, like most things in Talisman. In addition, dragons of the eastern hemisphere cultures shared a lot in common. What is thought of as a Chinese dragon can be found in similar if not the same exact form throughout most of Asia, and even some parts of the Near East. The same can be said (but not as much) for "Western" (European) dragons... though the ones that are part of the standard game are bit more generic than even that, and based on the more debased beastial ones of later Christian reinterpretation. I like the Eastern one better; he/she/it is more cunning.

After reading the text from the Howl of the Wendigo card on the forum in the rule section, it seems that FFG has turn a dangerous card into a easy one.

It is now a pvp card eventsad.gif

I see already a house rule coming..gran_risa.gif

I wonder what the other events do...

When i saw the character card from the Necromancer, it seems that he is more powerful with his ability than the Ogre Chieftain.

The Ogre Chieftain, can only make followers from enemy monsters, but the Necromancer can make every spirit a follower if his craft is higher than the spirit craft sorpresa.gif

I see already that he makes a horde of spirits and go into the dungeonpreocupado.gif

I was looking at the list again, and i saw that the Lucky Charm is originally a Dragon Tower object..preocupado.gif

Ha,ha

I think I see a dragon hiding in the cereal bowl....

Cheers

There is an easy semi-fix for both characters. Any character that can take Enemies as Followers may only have as many such of Strength or Craft as it has Strength or Craft tokens (no counting starting value). This forces such characters to still build legitimate Strength and Craft.

Personally, I don't think this is strict enough, but it might still make the characters acceptable to power-monger players looking to use prostheses in place of real Strength and Craft.

Now that some people have the frostmarch expansion, it would be nice if they can tell us what the ( only) 7 events are doing..

I only know the text from the wendigo, but i am curious about the others.

Going by memory:

Planeswalker offers a free teleport to any space in Outer/Middle Region. You then roll where the Planeswalker moves to (he does act more like a Stranger). If you roll a 1, he is discarded. But like if you roll a 3, Chasm. Funnily enough, cards > space, so you can go there and teleport elsewhere before having to roll at Chasm.

Snow Drifts everyone loses a turn, not sure if it was in that region, outer +middle or all.

Fate Bound makes everyone lose all their Fate gran_risa.gif .

Ragnarok wipes the board clean of Enemies, Strangers and Places (might've taken Objects as well).

Divine Protection, for the next two rounds, characters who lose in combat don't lose a life.

Ymir's Glow, everyone fills up to their Craft allowance in Spells.

Thanks,

It seems that the most events will do positive things, except fate bound..

I am not so happy with this, but we must accept the cards..

I wonder how the game will be played with Frostmarch. ( Will it make the game more challenging and difficult, or will it be the same as the Reaper with a lot of more cards added to the deck...preocupado.gif

Gladiator hasn't seen action yet since adding Frostmarch, but overall the # of Followers has been down. As they should, with Frostmarch adding 84 cards and just 5 of those being Followers. Then again, the Hag has been MIA as well. Gold is still too frequent, but at least the Pedlars offer Spells at 2G, so late game you might have something to spend Gold on.

I love Fate Bound, but then, Fate has never sat right with me, so less Fate in game the better.

Warlock is now 3-0, he's been untouchable in his games (stat-wise). Starting on the Middle Region, he avoids the PvP that is frequent early on, whether combat or special ability use, allowing him to concentrate on spell-cycling, Temple and card-drawing. Sure, today the Amazon made it to the Crown first (though only because the Warlock "let" her go first), but he had long before that cycled Transference into his hand, so the switch was inevitable.

Dungeon has seen a decrease in action, 5 games with Frostmarch, there has been a game with 0 cards from the Dungeon deck, another with 1 card drawn and today a massive 4 cards drawn (as Dark Denizens finally hit the board + Trap Door on Dark Cultist). Ice Queen ending game saw Dungeon action, because you need to buff up and the Dungeon is the best place for that, but otherwise lot less visits.

Interesting to hear that the pedlars are selling spells for 2 gold.

I agree that the Hag will be more difficult to draw now..( more nasty cards would be welcome to the deck

Mmm, it's a nasty trick, to circle through the spell deck to get the transference spell...( but it's logical that people are trying to get that spell card)

So dungeon has been decrease.. ( i still think that you can level up the best in the dungeon, but the mainboard has more stuff to grab..

I wonder why the dungeon has not take many actions in the 5 games with frostmarch..preocupado.gif
