Goblin Rush - Help to understand

By FrancisH, in Battlelore

Hey,

I have another question about the game rules, but this time is is about the 'Goblin Rush' Special Power that goblin have.

This is my understanding of the rules which I hope someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Goblin rush can be used during your turn anytime on a single unit without costing you an order, but must then battle the unit it just rushed to in melee. [This is where I get confused] The Players Guide then makes it sound like [to me] that they have to battle again, but then at the same time makes it sound like they don't have to and go back to normal restrictions.

Any help would be awesome since we decided to not include that rule in the last game we played due to confusion.

Thanks :)

Not 100% sure I understand what you are asking. Goblin Rush as far as my understanding is only used on ordered units, and will extend their range. For instance, a blue unit that could normally only go 1 hex and battle, can now go two hexes and battle, same thing with a red (except that for a red to move two hexes it must battle). Basically it frees the golbins up to move more freely.

My take on the rules is the same followed by the further detrimental effect you face if you have to make your goblin's retreat because they are frightened.

Same as OP or my view. Yeah I see it as attempting to make up for their frightened state.

Thanks for the help again :)

I hope you don't mind all these questions, but I want to make sure I understand the rules since this is a really awesome game!

Quick off topic questions: What expansion packs should I be looking to get first in the future? and do you recommend any other board game that is fantasy-ish with miniatures like Battlelore?

Thanks again!

First Expansion Pack should be Call to Arms as it will expand replayability a lot. After that I really liked the 100 years wars expansion.

I'd recommend the same order of expansions. As for other games, check out Descent.

I agree. Good luck finding the rest of them though.

Given the changes to the system that Heroes makes, definitely it and Call to Arms should be your first choices.
